CAR CARE TIP: If you repeatedly lock and unlock the doors on a ’05 and up RL in a short period of time using the keyless remote, the door lock actuators will overheat. And if they do, the door locks won’t work.
Before doing any extensive troubleshooting, let the door lock actuators cool for 2 hours, and then try the door locks again with the keyless remote. When you’re testing or demonstrating the keyless entry system, don’t lock and unlock the doors with the keyless remote more than ten times without letting the door lock actuators cool for at least 1 hour. Interesting. Is this the reason that the doors don't lock after washing the car or going through car wash with fob in pocket and doors repeatedly lock/unlock?
I always thought it was related to the sensor getting over stimulated. And, you know what happens then

put it down and get a new one.
