The 2005 RL system plays DVD-A disks..right?

I am pretty sure the stock 2005 RL system plays DVD-A disks?
Do any of you guys have any DVD-A disks and play them on the stock system?
Is the sound noticably better then a regular CD?
Where can u buy a DVD-A disk and where all albums made in DVD-A?
Thanks guys!

Hi there, yes, been discussed a few times here. I have a few I play and yes the sound quality is awesome. Amazon has a decent selection. I also hit Fry's Electronics out here in So Cal. Suck as I had a few SACD for my PS3 also. I'm not sure how much life is left in both formats though, but I will enjoy the 5.1 in the meantime.

Yes, but there is NO life left in the high-def audio formats. Too many people want to listen to their iPods in cars. I haven't bought a DVD-A in years.

Here's an exhaustive list from Amazon--click....

Pls see the following thread - I'm fully agree with TampaRL on it:https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-rl-audio-bluetooth-electronics-navigation-90/dvd-audio-684306/

As neuronbob mentioned, as far as popularity goes - Ipod's are far more popular.
But try this "Eagles - Hotel California" :http://www.amazon.com/Hotel-Californ...2563503&sr=8-2
there is no way you can compare it to Ipod. This DVD-A is my favorite, and it plays stunningly in RL.

there's several web sites with DVD A for sale. Sorry do not hae the link, but just search DVD A and 5.1
There was a 5.1 song on the 2005 RL demo disk that I thought was great. It was southern rock style, kind of like the band "Little Feat", but it was recorded specifically for the demo disk. It has the best surround sound compared to any others I have purchased. I agree that the Eagles one is very good. That Beatles "Love" album is on DVD A if you are into that. Surround is not that good.

Agree.
But If I remeber correctly only 1 or 2 albums Beatles actually produced was recorded in "Stereo". THere rest is just "Re-mux" of MONO.
I guess I'm not surprise, that's what you get by re-mux MONO-to STEREO-than back to Surround.

Did they happen to put the best album in history on DVD-A?

Guns n' roses Appetite for destruction?

This thread made me go back and play some DVD A. I was hung up on XM and after playing the DVDs again realize how much better DVD A is. Amazing. Listened to Eric Clapton and BB King "Ridin with the King"
Why does everyone settle for ipod and mp3??

Convenience. Plain and simple. I listen to XM more than anything but the quality does not compare to DVD-A.

I've used tools: Adobinizer and Cirlinca DVD Audio Solo mentioned before in this thread:https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-audio-bluetooth-electronics-navigation-94/adobinizer-adobemans-2-0-5-1-audio-converter-dvd-594798/ to convert some of my audio sources to DVD-A. Result was very decent (you'd have to play with conversion settings to get the best out of your sources)

I agree that the Ipod is convenient but the sound sucks. It has been discussed many times that the RL is a pretty good factory system but the Ipod is a poor source. As stated, the DVD-A is by far the most impressive and CD's have some Bose magic worked on them to enhance the spacial effect but the MP3's are pure 2 channel with compression. It is a shame that such a good system is wasted on Ipods.

Remember that any duplication can never be better than the original and if the original is a CD then you will still have only 2 channels on a DVD-A. If you can analog into your PC some DVD audio files then you can then encode them to a DVD-a and burn them but you need a bunch of software and codecs for the DVD-a burning.

If I need to make my own thread I will but I tried to burn my first DVD-A disc today with no luck. I dragged folders of artists into my Nero 8 thinking that would be the best way to do it hoping it would stay organized but my car could not read it. Does that mean you can only have 8 (if DL) gigs of music unorganized??? I was hoping to at least be able to create folders of playlists or artists so I knew where to look for music...

Any ideas? Or how can I create a disc that can actually be read?

I do not think that Nero 8 can make a DVD-A. There are numerous DVD formats and DVD-A is specific and different. You probably created a DVD with audio but not a DVD-A. Unless you have a DVD-A codec then the formatting of the data will not be read by the drive in the RL.
To name but a few:

Blu-ray
Divx
DVD DVD5
DVD9
DVD Video file system
DVD VR
DVD+R
DVD+RW
DVD-R DVD-RAM
DVD-ROM
DVD-R DL
DVD-RW
DVD-Video

Here what I've used to create DVD-A in the past:

Use Adobinizer on your sources (mp3, wav, etc...) to create 6 specific wav files (short or long batch files...)
Burn wav files with Cirlinca DVD Audio Solo (demo version - up to 5 discs to burn for free is available) in order to get DVD-A (up to 20 songs can be recorded).

It sounds like you are on the correct path but I am not familiar with the software that you are using so I cannot be of much help. It would have been nice if the DVD in the RL could play numerous DVD formats, e.g. a DVD that has MP3's on it. That way we could make a long playlist with the 6 disc total.
