DVD audio

So I know our cd players have the DVD-audio capability, which I heard (and was impressed with) while listening to the dealer's demo cd.

I would like to buy a dvd audio cd with some music that I actually listen to so I can really enjoy this advanced feature. Does anyone know somewhere that has a decent selection of dvd audio discs?

Question DVD-A Availability

Interesting links. I've been under the impression, from what I see in the stores, that the DVD-Audio format has not picked up and is disappearing. Do you see that happening or will DVD-A always exist (if only marginally)?

I think its dead.....just never picked up. I love the sound quality, but it never caught on in the mass market.

Exclamation

That's what I was afraid of... The only option we will have for our Acura DVD-A systems will be to transfer Surround DVD-Video to DVD-A but that will never be as good as a true DVD-A; it only provides the surround.

Given the synthesized/downsampled voices in pop music these days because the singers have no talent whatsoever, i guess it would make sense that they try their best to stay away from anything hi-def.

Just this week, Graham Nash's SONGS FOR BEGINNERS was offered as a DVD-Audio disc. The sound is remarkable.

Limited quantities of DVD-Audio are available here:

http://www.amazon.com/DVD-Audio-Musi...F8&node=574074

and here:

Hope that helps!

I don't think DVD-A is dead, but likley a niche market (as is our RL).

Both DVD-A and SACD formats are in limited distribution. But aside from the offereings, there are various format capable players out there and not all can play DVD-A or SACD or both.

A manufacturer would not mass produce a product that has no infastructure to support it.

Panasonic and Bose are respectable players for DVD-A and likely recording studios will continue to make offerings, if limited.

As multi capable players become more common, thre may be more growth in these high(er) fidelty formats. Pioneer Electronics has introduced the Elite DV-45A, a Universal DVD-Video/DVD-Audio/SACD player that plays everything, even CD-Rs and CD-RWs recorded with MP3 files.
