06 RL Radio / Driver Memory Issue

Some how I think these two are related...the radio keeps losing its code, and the memory button on the door has gone out. The radio/heater display on top of the dash is intermittent and goes blank occasionally.

I read somewhere that to fix the display on top of the dash you remove the unit and resolder the connections on the board. Easy fix if that is the case...so how do you get it out of the dashboard?

So what is making the radio code disappear? Loose connection behind the dash board? I put the code in, works a couple of days and turn the key and it is asking for the code again.

Any suggestions on the door driver memory?
Wife is not happy not having a radio.

I can do this repair in a short time this weekend...still doesn't explain why the radio keeps asking for the code after I put it in and suddenly it is gone again.

Or why the driver memory on the door isn't working...

Have you checked your fuses for the seat memory?

Your radio works fine while the car is on, but it randomly loses it's code after shut off?

Strange you should ask me about the fuse for the seat memory, I was going to dig into that this Saturday and see if I could find a fuse that has popped. Then the next question, if it is blow, why? We shall see. I have a fuse subsittute that allows me to check circuits with out melting the wires.

Yeah, I put in the code the other day when the wife said it was out...then a couple of days later, it did it again. Seems odd that it is doing this, so I asked the question if anyone knows why this might be happening.

This car has been 100% reliable until these little gremlins started to show up. Reminds me of my Italian cars...that is why I have a can of DeOxit D5 and a little bottle of gold protection fluid for cleaning contacts. My son tried it and it made his audio brighter from the improved contact.

Here is what happened yesterday! The wife was leaving work and the car just quit. She put it in neutral and coasted in to a parking lot right in front of O'Reilly's Auto Parts. How convenient was that! Well, she called and said she was trapped in the car; couldn't roll the windows down or get out of the car. My mind says...total electrical failure. I get the the location about 5 min. away...again how convenient.
She is furious she can't get out of the car and fortunately it wasn't a very hot day.
She pops the hood, I remove the battery cover and the postiive post is caked in acid residue. I cleaned it 3 months ago and greased it. Well, obviously that didn't work. I couldn't move the post it was so tight. I went in to the parts store and they lent me a 10mm wrench and battery post cleaner. When I put the wrench on the nut, the whole terminal disintegrates in my hand. Now we know the cause of all the weird problems and total system failure.
In the mean time she is fuming she is stuck in the car. I go back into the store after cleaning the terminals, buy a pair of vice grips, put the connections back on the battery and lock them down tight. Power!! she opens the windows and the doors.
After she got back home, took me an hour to replace the connectors and terminal and it is back on the road and all systems functioning.
The wires had battery corrosion down about 3 inches into the copper wiring.

Wife is still mad at me for not checking the cause sooner and making the repair.

On another note, when all electrical is gone, there is no way to get out of the car. Anyone know of a way the driver can exit the car besides breaking the window?

When Acura put in the flush post battery with the red fuse isolator..this was designed to prevent the battery post corrosion to the terminal wires. I understand that now.

There's no way to get stuck in the car, why didnt she just manually unlock the door?

Thank you.

The lock (the tab just above the inside handle that is red when the door is unlocked), is physically connected by wire to the lock. Push the tab from the locked position to the unlocked position. Then, pull the handle (which is also physically connected by wire) to open the door.

I have been flamed here before for my next comment, but the two beers in me say, "who gives a shit?"

Trophy wife?

I had the same problem when I was teaching my wife to drive:
I told her to drive to the end of the street (which she did) and then stop at the Stop sign, to which she asked, "Which one is the brake".

I had the driver memory going off intermittently, then the car wouldn't start. No power at all, went to the battery terminal (positive) and found it to be loose ever so slightly. I cleaned up both posts with a wire brush and tightened the clamps on good. Had to reprogram the radio code and all is good now!!!

Dead battery: So karma caught up with me, battery intermittently dies. Found multiple issues that appear to have been related:1) Battery was dying if car sat for more than four days without being driven; 2) Memory lost in driver 1 & 2 settings & radio theft mode; 3) Bluetooth did not work. The bluetooth module circuitry, located above passenger kick panel - remove glove box for access, had "blown" and was constantly drawing low power. Found one online from a salvage yard for $50 versus $700 from Acura. When removing it, noticed the module was warm to the touch. Replaced module and recharged battery, all other issues resolved.

I literally burst out laughing sitting at my desk when I read this. So funny. Reminds me of the joke call into Onstar where the girl accidentally got in the car and locked it while leaving the keys in the key hole on the outside of the car. HAHAHAHAHAHA, still killing myself laughing.
