Window lock not working

I recently purchased a 2005RL w/ ~25K miles. Shortly after purchasing the car, I noticed the left rear window would not work with the driver's control unit but would work when controlled by the left rear door's switch. I performed the reset per the directions I found here on the forums and now that works properly

However, now it seems the window lock doesn't function at all. Is there something else that I need to reset? Thoughts? I simply can't imagine that the window lock switch broke in 25K miles.

Unfortunately, the warranty has expired so taking to it to dealership would be a costly trip. I did however mess around with it some more today and found that if I press down really hard on the window lock switch it works as it should; however, as soon as I let go of the switch it fails. So clearly the switch itself is defective as you mentioned.

Would anyone happen to have a reference on how to pull the driver door panel off? I looked at the DIY sticky and it makes reference to door panel removal in the power windows section but nowhere in the complement of other maintenance documents could I find it.

The factory warranty is 4 years or 50,000 miles...whichever comes first.

Obviously the poster has passed the 4 year mark with the 2005 RL, regardless of the low mileage.

Check the service manual link in the 2G RL Garage thread at the top of the forum. That should give you more specific info.

TampaRL is correct. The car was purchased on 7/2005 so it's warranty expired due to age, not mileage. I bought it in October of this year.

The story of the car is most interesting, for the prior owner leased it and simply didn't drive it much (obviously). The local dealership was struggling for sales and let it go for under $24K. The car needed a few issues addressed (deferred maintenance) and I bought it for what I thought was a decent price. It wasn't the exact color combination that I wanted, but for the mileage and price I simply couldn't pass it up. Now I'm attempting to address some of the issues. Some issues have been easy to take care of (changing the cabin air filter) while other's surprisingly are more involved (window lock switch, brakes).
