Where do you put your keys?

During the winter months, I alwayz kept the key ring in my jacket pocket (too bulky for pantz). Now, the weather is getting warmer ... So I'm wondering where most of you fair weather RL pilots have been placing your keys? Throwing them on the passenger seat was a pain ... They rolled around in turns. Putting them in the tilt-out door pocket was even worse. Anybody have a good suggestion?

Side Note: I really do like the keyless entry & ignition on the RL. When I had the updates done, I was handed the keys to a loaner and, with a straight face, asked the service manager to remind me how to use these "old fashion" keys to start a car.

So far it has been in the pocket, even in shorts. If you find this too bulky you might want to try on the top of the coin holder behind the shifter...I put my cell phone there when it is charging and it doesn't move around too much.

Back pants pocket, all the time. I then know where they are all the time jacket or not.

Try looser pants. They're also more comfortable for driving.

Keeping them in your jacket is a good way not to go off and leave your jacket somewhere. This time of year, when it starts out cold and then warms up during the day, it is easy to leave your jacket somewhere.

Reminds me of an old lawyer. I was in the courthouse one day looking up deeds. A lawyer was there, left, and in a few minutes he returned. He said he had forgotten his hat. Said he always put his keys in his hat and that way when he got to his car he would remember he had forgotten his hat. Pretty good idea.

Yeah, keep my keys in my pants pocket, that way I never forget my pants.

I have a key chain that seperates. I leave my keys in my car and put the keyless remote in my pocket. No more bulk. Just dont lose you remonte or your SOL. But I also have my valet key hidden outside of my car.

Just wait until you get older and you might forget your pants.

I couldn't resist either.

By saying you leave your keys in the car do you mean like your house keys and stuff? Personally I'd be uncomfortable knowing that if some cretin broke into my car he'd be able to find out where I live (registration in the glovebox) AND have the keys to my house.

I like putting them in the cup holder or the armrest. If anything, I just have them in my backpack or jeans.

I'm really surprised that nobody leaves their
keys in the little tray marked Not An Ashtray
underneath the stereo/nav console.

I get in my car, throw my keys in that little tray,
and I am on my way!

Well my house unfortunately does NOT have keyless entry, so my fob and 1 house key stays in my pants pocket.

I keep my key fob and attached house key in my pants pocket or jacket pocket if the weather requires a jacket. On a recent 4-day golf trip to the mountains, however, I wore a small fabric money belt and kept my key fob in there the whole trip. That way, I didn't have to worry about leaving my key in the hotel room or in my golf bag and yet I still had complete access to the car whenever I needed it. I find it a pain to carry my keys in my pocket when golfing since I have tees, provisional ball, ball-mark repair tool, scorecard, cash to pay off golfing bets, tip the cart girl etc. and other things already in my pockets.

The bulkiness of the remote is somewhat of a nuisance to me because I normally only carry on my person the one key that starts a car...everything else is in a briefcase.

However, I find that when wearing Levi's jeans, that the watch pocket holds the remote very nicely...have to remember it's there before tossing into the washer!

That amazes me that a $50,000 car has keyless entry, but a $500,000 house doesn't.

RFID (radio frequency identification)and capacitive touch sensor technologies are growing in leaps and bounds and I can certainly see deadbolts activated by an RFID fob opening my house door in the near future. Now if we could match the frequencies and key codes so that the same fob opened the house door and started the car..... that would be sweet. Adding a high powered RFID transponder to the car that would open your garage door from 1/2 a block away would complete the set.
