UR Underdrive Pulley
UR Underdrive Pulley
so i just bought an unorthodox racing underdrive crank pulley and new belt to go with it. i have ran these on hondas in the past without problem, but have never ran one on the j-series. i have read all of the threads i can find on the subject, but am not sure i want to put it on. for those of you that run one, did you notice an improvement. i dont have much invested in the part, so it wont break my heart if i decide not to use it. how well did your a/c work at idle. any other adverse affects.
thanks

used on my 09 for 2 years, no obvious adverse affects. I installed mine along with a Short Ram so I can't say if it helped or not as I secretly have a feeling that the SRI kills power at idle and gives more on the go. Can't quantify UR pulley alone.
thanks for the input. i guess i will run it and see if i think it helps. i havent had my car very long so it might make it harder to tell if it has done any good. anyone else have any input
Touge claimed no adverse affects from installing the UR pulley, but then again, he was also selling it so I take it with a grain of salt. I know there are at least 10 people here who have it and I have only heard of one issue. From the recount, it seems that it was more of a bad install than a problem with the pulley. I don't think you will have issues with your A/C at idle or other electronics as long as you don't add a bunch of other systems. One reason I am staying away from it is b/c of my 2000W amp pushing two 12" subs. Knowing the RL already sucks power from the charging system, I didn't want to push it too hard. I would say the pulley puts the car right on the functional side of the brink of the charging system limitations.
no point in installing a pulley unless you take full advantage, meaning lower weight and underdrive. I had my Acura dealer install it with a proper size belt to make sure there aren't any surprises, it cost me an arm and a leg but guess what, still running strong 2 years later.

i know what you are saying. i ran the pulley set on my 95 prelude vtec and never had a problem. i had full intentions of running this crank pulley until i started reading how the rl as hard on electrical things to start with. when i get it i probably wont be able to resist putting it on.
