A single click, clunk or pop noise when turning steering wheel...
Hi all!
My car 2010 RL is making what seems to be a single click or clunk or pop sound(don't know exactly what is sounds like) when I back out of parking spot(no acceleration needed) and can turn steering wheel to right or left. The same noise can me heard when I am at traffic light, prepared to do left turn(doesn't happen on right turns), so once green, I drive straight, then start to do left turn and in the middle of the turn, that single click/clunk/pop is heard.
This happened after I hit a curb(Left front) pretty much head on couple of months ago. Went to couple of different alignment shops, they checked suspension components(nothing abnormal) and the last shop was able to correct caster and made them even on both sides and all is within specs.
For some reason, I believe the sound might be coming from inside the car, something like steering column. The sound is no dull, but seems a bit on the bright side and that is why I think it might be coming from inside.
I though of clock spring and it does rattle a bit by itself, but shaking the steering wheel, I can't force clock spring to make exact same noise.
Here is the noise, look at 7 and 16 second marks: https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...Ix?usp=sharing
