Knocking noise when turning the steering wheel.
My TSX has developed a loud knocking noise everytime I make a left or right hand turn turning the steering wheel. Its not the turn signal because the noise is coming from the right side of the car somewhere in the engine. This knocking noise started occuring two weeks ago. Is something wrong with my steering wheel or something with the engine?
Anyone with this problem or know whats causing it?

Re: Knocking noise when turning the steering wheel.
Hey Agent_Chen,
You haven't taken your car in for an alignment, or swaped out springs, or done anything to your struts have you?
I took mine in to get an alignment done, and about a week later I started hearing this clunky/jiggly sound when I would take off from a stop, apply the brakes at slow speeds, or make quick left/right turns. After a return trip to the dealer it turns out those boneheads didn't re-seat my right-front strut properly when they did the alignment.
Anyway, it definitely sounds like a steering or suspension component is loose or something- I'd take it in...
BTW- I like the avatar pic

i had experienced this w/ my previous car, audi a4. Knocking noise when turning the wheel...i thought there are some problems w/ my steering column at first....but the problem for that is becuz of low on steering wheel oil. However, it might not be the same case as your...so still it's better to go to dealer and check it out ^_^

Its been over a week without my TSX. Today, I picked it up from the Acura dealer. The dealer fixed the knocking noise under warranty.
Here is the repair technicans comment from my service invoice.
CUSTOMER REPORTS A KNOCKING NOISE WHEN TURNING STEERING WHEEL L-R, TECH NOTED AFTER STRUT DUST COVER WAS LUBED, ADDITIONAL NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN AREA, SIR COIL MAKING NOISE, REPLACED SIR COIL, OPERATING AS DESIGNED.
The technican said my car's alignment was just fine. They had to replace the mount assembly, front strut upper bearing and the coil assembly. The knocking noise is gone now.
Its good to have my TSX back!
