No snow tires = "ok" behavior in the deep snow. I am just guessing

Looks like upper east side.

I have been impressed with the Michelin Pilot Sport PLUS and SH-AWD during our blizzard here in Northern Va.

Looks like you just had your RL cleaned prior to the snow!

that's midtown east side and I am running Michelin Pilot Sport A/S.

I had the car detailed shortly before it got scratched up, bumped into, scratched up again...and then salted and put on ice.

I am from NY. I spent a week at the Cornell Club (44th and Madison) in October while my sister was at Mt Sinai (100th and Madison) and had walked the 55 or so blocks a few times when the weather great.

NY is not kind to cars! We had a "family" plan with a local body shop back in the day!

Dude, SHAWD is great, but it doesn't defy the laws of physics. lack of friction with the road means tires break traction. Snow and ice has a way of doing that.

Great video, Leo.

That's the kind of snow we usually see in Cleveland this time of year....that storm almost totally missed us here. We got less than an inch out of that whole storm.

I was out today in Northern VA. We had 23-24 inches in the backyard. The roads are mostly clear, but side streets are coated with slush and ice packed surfaces. On PAX tires with 32K on them, the car did fine accelerating, as you would expect, and was very sure footed. When it came to braking, just like every other car, your four contact patches have limited traction. ABS and ESC keep you mostly straight if get out of sorts, but AWD does not help in a braking situation. It probably did help going down hill keeping it in 2nd to control speed with little braking.

Still, a nice car, even with old tires....

RL did well in the mid atlanic blizzard from over the weekend. No complaints from the pilot sport A/S. Lots of salt spray to clean now

Sorry I just come from the world of Subaru. Could have taken my wifes outback, cranked the wheels full lock left and creeped over that big mound without ever breaking traction,....
I know there isnt that much ground clearance with the RLs...
Dont get me wrong I love my RL ,.... and my Subys

Good job!
that's the reason I was slowly easing on the gas and folded my mirror, I wasn't gonna risk whacking any poles.

I'm not gonna say I didn't have enough traction to go straight through and crash through the snow, I probably did.

The thing is, my car has 4.2" of clearence and as soon as it moved it was literally lying on the snow...

for that reason I had to take my "off-road" vehicle on the sidewalk

I wasn't doing it for show...I actually needed my car that day and my lil apartment is not equipped with a snow blower or a shovel. I also left the duster I used next to the car while driving and then my videographer left it on the ground.
