replace plugs

My '05 is about to turn 90K miles. Have noticed distinct drop in mileage over last few months along with very slight vibration at idle.
When are plugs supposed to be replaced in service schedule? I don't recall paying for that yet.

remind the dealer and they'll give you a huge list of other things they would like to replace.

The magic mark for the car maintenance minder might be 100k.

I'm sure they will, that's why I want to know what the recommended is. After searching a bit, I think the scheduled replacement is 105K. I wonder if the maintenance minder varies this on driving habit like the oil schedule.

Not sure if the maintenance reminder keeps track of items such as driving habits, environment, etc. but I would not wait till 100k to replace the plugs whether iridium, platinum, gold, etc. Plugs are not too difficult to replace on this car so I would change them a bit earlier than recommended.

Only if you have shares in a plug manufacturer. I changed mine at 106K, they still looked perfect and I couldn't tell the difference in performance either. It's the same as changing your oil every 3K miles - it's great for the businesses that supply the oil but it doesn't help your car, your car will still run longer than you will ever own it.

I depends on a variety of factors such as mods, gas quality, driving habits, etc. 30k is not unreasonable if driven very hard and only poor gas is used/available. I have seen plugs go the 100k, never mine.

I've never replaced plugs every 30k miles....ever. That is simply not necessary to me. I follow the manufacturer's instructions....and for Acura that means 100k.

Of course if you do more than the manufacturer suggests, then all the better, especially if you plan to keep the car a long time.

This is a good thread.

I've noticed every 'blue moon' on startup my car never turns over. Basically misfiring and doesn't stop until I turn off the car. When I turn the car off and then on restart, it turns over with no issue.

Have 64K on a 05 RL. Haven't been totally using premium throughout, so it might be the plugs.

I don't want to go to the dealer because I'm sure they'll provide a magnificent list of things to do....

Should I just replace the plugs or might be something different.
