Remove Seatbelt Warning

I just purchased a new RL Black/Black.

Is there a fuse I can remove or something to defeat the beeping, or is it possible to disable this in the computer.

Thanks

Well, everybody who reads your post is thinking the same thing, so I might as well be the one to say it - just put on the damn seatbelt. If you are counting on the airbags to save you in an accident, they don't work if you're being tossed around inside the car. I'm guessing that Honda didn't make it very easy to defeat the seatbelt warnings because their legal department wouldn't let them sell the car if they did.

I'm just curious as to why you want to know how to disable this "safety" feature.

I don't wear a seatbelt while driving. I already devised my own solution to defeat the security feature.

Its because of people like you and lawyers that manufactures have such a hard time producing and coming out with new products. (I don't work in the auto industry and I am not a lawyer but I do work for a manufacuturer that has multiple lawyers)

Manufacturers have to constantly think of what the consumer smart and stupid is going to do with its product. Its because of people (idiots) that don't know how to drive the auto manufactures have begun making electronic aids permanently engaged.

I know you don't care and are probably not going to read this post. But if you want to kill yourself go do it. Otherwise where your seatbelt. That way more cars don't have to have annoying alarms that you can't turn off. I see in the near future having to take breathalyzer exams before starting the car, fastening the seatbelf for all occupants before engaging the transmission, satelite linked speedometers that don't allow the driver to exceed the speedlimit.

Coincidentaly those are all things that auto manufacturers are testing. All because of people that think they can find ways arround the system. We wouldn't need to find ways around the system if people weren't killing themselves by acting stupid.

P.S. I don't mean to call the person who made the orginal post stupid, (except to say stupid is that stupid does. The act of not wearing a seatbelt is stupid.) I for one would love to have 4 or 6 point saftey belts in the car. A full race spec sedan ready for the track sounds like a lot of fun on the weekends.

Sorry for the long post.

Isn't the breathalzyer already being installed on cars for repeat offenders? Also, at one time some cars would start unless passangers (front ones I think as I was 5 years old at the time) fastened their seat belts. My Aunt's Nova and Pontiac somthing or another had that feature. Sat linked speedometers? Talk about "Big Brother" watching out for you.

I know this is an old thread, but after not wearing my seatbelt for awhile. My car stopped the constant beeping reminder to buckle up. It just warns me once, thats it. (the yellow explanation indicator doesn't light up, just the red seatbelt icon.)I guess it has to be programed by not wearing seat belts and putting up with the beeping for awhile. But once you buckle up again it goes back to normal with the constant reminding. hope this helps

Mine has *never* shut up. It makes me insane. Of course, what makes me MORE insane is my fiancee's bitching about the "constant bonging" and the sighing and eyerolls that entails whenever I tell her to get over it. So, I usually wind up putting it on, but it's annoying as hell.

So, I'd love to be able to defeat this. Buckling the belt behind me is quite uncomfortable.

And before everyone gets all Safety-Nazi on me and starts bitching about lawyers... I *am* a lawyer, and there's a little something called "freedom" that is rather important to some of us. Just like you're free to smoke a cigarette, ride a motorcycle or own a gun or go skydiving or engage in other high risk activities, I should not be mandated by anyone to have to be restrained in my own car -- much less BY MY CAR.

So, save the political rants, and tell me how to shut this damn thing up.

Cut the "male" belt fastener from the rear middle seat and plug it into the "female" receptor in the front (if they are the same size). If not try to get one at a junkyard or something. Voila, problem solved.

I don't do this but it occurred to me as a possible solution for people who are annoyed by it and don't carry rear passengers.

2 options, 1)buy a buckle from your local Acura dealer and insert it.
2)deal with the noise for 10 miles, then it gives up.

Our site policy is not to allow discussion of issues involving disabling critical safety devices--mostly for reasons involving litigation.

Apologies, have to lock.
