Removal of Dealer Badge

Much to my dismay, when I took delivery the dealer put on a metal dealer badge with some sort of glue or double sided tape. Does anyone know how to safely remove these without damaging the paint underneath?

Thanks!

Heat it up with a hair dryer and use some fishing line to saw through the double sided tape. The excess heated tape should come off pretty easy. Than use what ever kind of wax you like on that area.

Ask the dealer to remove it.

Although, like he said, hair dryer and fishing line or floss.

I'd be nervous that the dealer would futz up the paint. I'd do it myself or have a good detailer take care of it. Thankfully my car only came with licence plate holders so those were gone 5 minutes after I got home with the car. Should have told them to not put anything on the car but I forgot in the excitement

Great idea!!

I also got lucky and my dealer only put on a licence plate frame that was easy to remove later. Those ugly dealer badges are one of my pet peeves - the dealers treat you like crap, grind you for every nickel, lie, cheat and steal to close the deal and then expect you to gladly act as free advertising for them for the life of the car.

I still have mine. It is horrible. I have been looking for a good one - I wanted to get teh one from weathertech, but they have that seal and the laser shifter I have would interfere with it.

My son has a Volvo with a metal ad frame that is so old we are thinking of listing it on eBay as a vintage part. :-)

i think it is asinine that dealers are allowed to do this crap without asking. The license plate holders are fine but to actually attach something to the car? Please.

The first thing I told the saleman is not to put that lame dearship sticker on my RL. I also removed the Acura, RL, and the SH-AWD badges.

No, I used a hair blower and some glue remover with a cotton ball. I also had the clear bra installed along with door edges, back bumper and rearview mirrors. The installer made sure that there was no residue and shadows in those areas.

Luckily, mine was only the license plate frame on the RL. At a local MB dealer, I looked over a E350 and asked if I get the car, I want the dealer badge off. He told me nobody asks for that because you should be proud of having it on our car. I told the guy thanks for showing the car and walked out of the dealer. I hate the dealer badge on ANY car...its friggin cheesy.

I removed the badge I soon as I got the car. Just pulled it off carefully, then used lighter fluid to remove the glue that remained. Can't tell where it was. It probably comes off a lot easier the less time it has been on.

I insisted that the badge be removed or give me free oil change for as long as I own the car. Guess what happen?
