That's the first fatal accident I've read about involving the RL.
Poor RL....and the story says the driver of the RL was speeding. Hopefully the driver wasn't one of us.

Kevin Kovalic, who missed being part of the wreckage by seconds, said he had just made a right hand turn off of Blair Mill Road to head east on County Line Road when he saw an Acura speeding toward him, apparently trying to get around the traffic stopped at the light. "I had to get out of her way as she was coming toward me," said Kovalic, who punctured one of the tires on his Volvo after hitting a curb while evading the speeding car. "When I turned back toward the intersection and saw how fast she was going + and all five lanes essentially blocked as more cars turned off Blair Mill, I knew there was going to be a bad accident." Kovalic added he thought the woman had seen a brief opening around the westbound turning lane, but lost control, slamming into the Solara, which had also turned right off Blair Mill.

I know the intersection well as I used to pass it daily on the way to work. It's a "T" intersection with the top of the "T" long and straight. Easy to speed but there's usually a fair amount of traffic, especially around 4:30. Perhaps she just wasn't paying attention and didn't see the light until it was too late and tried to swerve around the stopped traffic just as the Solara was pulling into the intersection. Sad.

Crash tests are performed within limits. She may have been traveling out of those limits. I did not see any mention if she was wearing her seatblet as well.

The big thing that I noticed looking at the pic is the impact is perfectly between the wheels....the worst way to get hit as the passenger area takes 100% percent of the impact. If the impact was either 1 ft foward or back she may have lived.
All I've got to say is, WOWZERS! I'm of course deleting the expletives I shouted out when I saw the above pic. I'm wishing that everyone would have walked away ok.... Since there was a death associated, I hope the individual didn't suffer long. What a horrible way to go...
