Please Help, 05 will not start

Ok everyone, my wife is in Quantico and for some reason the car has locked her out. Her remote lights up when she presses the buttons but the car will not unlock. She got the key out and unlocked the door and then tried to use the key in the ignition and it will not turn at all. No lights come on the dash but she had someone sent from AcuraCare to jump start the car and they indicated the battery is full and were completely clueless and looking at the manual trying to figure out what to do. They said they tested the battery and it has a full charge (1 year old battery). We have the Acura Care but of course it's Saturday night and no dealer in VA is open right now nor will be tomorrow and getting off the base during the week is nearly impossible. There is a Honda Dealer in Fredickburg that is opened on Sunday for service but after talking to them they seemed like they may be clueless if it is towed to them. She tried locking the car and unlocking everything again using the key and no luck. She tried moving the steering wheel around hoping it was locked but it wasn't and now is wheel locked.

Any idea's would be greatly appreciated, my wife hates technology and cars and is at wits end and to make it worse she is 8 months pregnant and has no patience for the car.

TIA
05 RL

Sounds like the same thing that happened to mine when the door handle died.

Did she pop the ignition cover off and try to start the car manually?

I am an 1hr south of her if I can help.

I would check all the fuses. Sounds like something shorted out and blew a fuse. That's the only thing I can think of if no lights come on after turning the physical key in the ignition.

I have to go with this one. When I blew a fuse I couldn't start the car. One of my threads states exactly which fuse to check...it was something stupid and seemingly unrelated to anything.

I'm going to do a quick search and see if I can track that post down.

I don't know if it's the same issue but here's the scoop from my previous post...never know.

8. Say good bye to your friend and attempt to leave the driveway
9. Have your car die, lose backup light, backup camera, turn signals, speedometer, and the ability to shift from park
10. Run around like a chicken without a head as the friend needs to drive his mom somewhere and you're stuck in his driveway
11. Learn the fuse manual, figure out that it's easier to use the key to unlock the shifter and get the car outa the driveway.
12. Go home, spend another 40 minutes pulling out fuses until you figure out what the hell blew ( it was #21 for me, aka meter)
13. Replace 10A fuse with 20A, everything is back online and now you got a nice "check emissions" bulb that looks very similar to check engine
14. Ignore that, drive around for a day and it goes away.

Dealer is clueless

Thanks everyone for your input and thanks Heavy RL for offering to help her out, my wife opted to have the car towed to Pohanka Acura who actually has service hours starting from 7 am on Sunday.

Well guess what, the dealer has no idea and they are going to wait for the foreman to get in Monday and see if he has any idea's.

The door sensor was replaced less then a year ago, even with the key in the ignition it didn't turn from the lock position, no dash lights what so ever. Headlights don't turn on but the vanity light does.

Hopefully they will figure it out if not I'll give them a call tomorrow and mention the fuses and to check the door sensor again, hopefully the acura care extended warranty cover's whatever it is.

Pohanka is a great dealer, I use them exclusively.

They keep 65 brand new Acura's in their loaner fleet, so make sure your wife asks for a loaner. Mark is the foreman and I am sure he will get your issue solved.

It will be interesting to see what the fix is.

Congratulations on your new son or daughter!

Problem solved

Just got off the phone with Pohanka and it looks like it was the passenger door sensor (good call guys). It's odd because when the driver side failed it didn't have such extreme results and I was still able use the key and unlock and start the car. You would think that Acura would have designed a fail safe in case this happened like having the other side override the malfunction. This could have been a bad situation with my wife being pregnant in Quantico and me in Chicago.

Thanks everyone for their input and most of all because of this forum I purchased the AcuraCare extended warranty, who knew that it would more then pay for itself in the first 18 months. I'm still surprised with the amount of problems I have had given that the car only had 50K on it and was one owner who exclusively maintained the car at the Acura dealership it was purchased from. Then again it seems like all cars that are tech heavy have lots of problems, my friends CLS550 and another friends Range Rover I think have been in the shop more then they have driven it.

Thanks again everyone

good to hear, yeah the more electronics the more issues and money.

my extended warranty has been renewed twice and has paid for itself.
