P1549 error code

Car is running great. P1549 code pops up. Check charging system, check airbags, brake light, check SH-AWD and other lights pop on. Alternator is less than 6 months old and battery is about 2 months old. has been running fine. I added a backup camera using the method in a thread here 2 Fridays ago. Ran fine and have had no issues until today. Over 400 miles of driving. Coincidence or what? I did notice that the charging system was putting out 18.3 volts at one point....what would cause that? made it back to the house and pulled the code. Thanks Acurazine.

It's exactly that: charging system high voltage.

4 possible causes:

Alternator connector is damaged. check pins for damage or moisture.

Alternator fail.

PCM fail.

Underhood fuse-relay box connector is damaged check pins for damage).

Thanks man. Is there anyway that my install of the backup cam caused this?

I got no clue. I'd say disconnect it and see if things go back to normal.

You're welcome. But, unless someone did the exact same install, no one can tell you if its related. So disconnecting it (not removing it entirely) will tell you if its the cause; no more.

You may also wanna try posting in the same thread you followed instructions for this install, where others who installed this may be able to reply.

Frankly i am hoping that's all it is, and you didn't mess up the PCM.

Having to replace it can make one fragile. its not cheap. But i never modded anything on the car, no idea how fragile it is.
