OEM K&N Air Filter

Does anyone know what type of power and torque gains a 2005 - 2008 RL will get if a OEM K&N Air filter was added?

Had one in my '01 TL. At most a couple horsepower. Nothing you would ever feel. Maybe an extra mile per gallon.

The only real benefit (IMO) is that you might save some money in not having to replace the air filter every 30K miles.

If that is your only mod. and you're expecting to feel a difference, you're going to be disappointed. But you'll have the warm tingly feeling of helping save the environment by not throwing all those paper filters away.

As mentioned the k&n is more of a convenience item, it won't improve power or torque, for that you will need the RL aem cold air intake.

Hey Touge, can you recommend a good Cold Air Intake for an RL? Do you know what type of gains I can expect with that?

K&N do not clean well enough, they are not recommended, most Acura's and Honda's will not see
any gain to notice a difference, plus not clean enough for the engine.

According to tests, it is not as clean, yes more airflow but at the expense of filtering.
Got this from 12 years as a member of the NSX forum.

Call Acura and see what they say, I am sure if they thought it was better they would put them on their cars. The S2000 has a great cone style filter but not like the k&n.

Touge sells a modified AEM CAI. It is actually the intake for the 3G TL with a minor modification that allows it to fit in our cars. Works fine and I've had mine for almost a year now.

As far as K&N, I had a filter in my 2G TL years ago and I noticed a gain in mileage of 2-3 mpg. Other than that, I found no benefit in power/torque.

You can actually search the car rags and see what a K&N does. I cannot remember if was R&T, MT or C&D, but they always have a sidebar on one of their test cars on accessories. The K&N filter did not do anything, or it was so little difference that it was like why bother?
