Maybe it is different everywhere you go, but my A spec Rims added value to my TL when I traded it in. When we did the work sheet last year to get my RL they gave me a bump up on the rims and A spec kit. I can see where they don't like non Acura changes, but these are Acura parts

I wasn't unhappy and thought with the RonJons was a beautiful car. I have owned many, many cars and think that the RL offers the best value of any car in its class. I just like to move in and out of vehicles and have replaced it with an M5.

We just traded in our RL also. Sadly it is gone. Loved the car, just these days you can pay less for a car and get the same stuff inside of it.
We only got 31,5k for our RL with 14k of miles and a 2006 model. Sad part is, that same day, she hit a pot hole in the RL, blew out the right rear tire. So I had to go put the donut on it, and the dealer would fix it (the one we traded it into). So it had a soar paw.
We also traded in our 01 Altima which needed some repairs as well, and got two new 08 Honda Civics EX-L w/navi and a EX. We are very impressed with them and the quality of the car. It is actually more roomy than the RL was. But it also takes regular gas, and gets 35 mpg average!
We will miss the RL. It was a great car, but we just didn't want to pay the $850 a month price tag anymore with everything going up..

pimpin, you may have downgraded to a Civic, but at least you have your Z to use as a weekend toy. Congrats on the purchase!

I suspect the fact he was trading down to a Honda Civic cost him. I've always found that trading for upper-range cars gets you the best trade deals ... maybe because there's more fluff built into their price.

Unless you have tried to trade it in recently, the RL isn't common in Texas, and since AWD isn't really needed down here, they don't sell well. $31,5k is the best we got for it. They called the Acura store here in SA, and that is what they were told.

Well, reality turns out to be different from "what should be".
My Lexus dealer offered $32,000 for the RL, so I went to Carmax - assuming I'd get a number closer to KBB, Edmunds, etc.
Nupe. Carmax coughed up $31,000. When I asked them why they were so far off the "book" price, the guy quickly said, "We now take into account the sales tax savings you'd get if you traded your car. So your actual trade-in value is $33,000, but since you'll save $2,000 on sales tax, we offer $31."
What??? "Yeah, he says - KBB and those guys don't include tax offset in their prices, so we deduct that." So then I explained to them what they didn't take into account is that the car is leased, and I therefore get NO tax offset anymore.
Looks like I'll just enjoy some more miles in my very nice, enjoyable RL.

miketx...glad to have you stay with the group....the LS would be a good to car to leave for but it is so expensive, but I did think you had a logical justification for it...shame you couldn't have gotten more resale value.

The LS offers some interesting advantages over the RL:
- A torquey V-8, with 382hp and gas mileage equal to the RL's
- More room, both inside and in the trunk
- 8-spd auto transmission
- Heated steering wheel
- Heated AND cooled seats, front AND rear
- A "Hold" button so you don't have to stay on the brake at lights
- Auto door and trunk closers (actually pretty cool!)
- Park assist with tones and a graphic distance display on the Nav screen
- Excellent 19-speaker sound system with HDD storage
- That goofy automated parking gimmick - LOL
- Dual-pane laminated side window glass for sound control
- Much quieter interior sound level
- Lexus service
- etc., etc.
The RL, of course, offers:
- SH-AWD (which in the South, I can do without)
- A better Nav system
- Arguably better VR/BT implementation
- Uhhh .... ....
Okay, the Lexus has a lot more toys, but the biggie for me is the Nav system, and I'd have to do a small hack to get part of the Lexus' functionality back.
But if I stay with the RL, I have a great car.
