New Nav problem - Can you reset personal pin if u have the 4 digit anti theft code?

Installed the Nav into my RL base and everything was great for a day, my wife accidentally entered in a personal pin# under the setup screen and forgot it. I have the 4 digit navigation anti theft code that works fine, but when I go to the setup screen and toggle the button left, then pick "personal information" everything is greyed out, I cannot access home address or the address book. I reset the unit, then typed in the 4 digit anti theft code but I cannot get into the personal info etc.. Is there any way to reset a personal pin if someone put it in and it was forgotten?

Even though resetting it did nothing, I am currently running software version 4.56, if I bought the new 4.92 update, wouldn't that reset everything when I uploaded the 4.92 version? Does uploading a new version reset a personal pin#? If so where is the cheapest place to get a version 4.92 DVD to update from my 4.56? Thanks

Update - apparently there was no pin entered. I got into the car started it and all was well, then an hour later got in and when I go to Setup, then click the button to the left, all of the options are greyed out except for previous destinations...Anyone have any idea? Is the NAV a bad unit?

not likely a bad unit. have you gone in to the "hidden menus" and reset everything? what disc are you using? a real OEM acura dis or a burned disc? was it the disc that came with the nav reader?

i would say with 90% certainty that it is not the reader faulting.

I am using version 4.56. I think it is the linking between the key FOB and the car. When I do the following, nothing is greyed out and all is well.

To get them re-associated, I have to do the following:

1) Unlock the car
2) Get in the car and close the door
3) Press lock and unlock until the light blinks twice, unassociating the fob
4) Get out of the car and lock it
5) Get back in the car and close the door
6) Press lock and unlink until the light blinks once, re-associating the fob
7) Turn on the car and it says "Welcome Driver 1".

Hopefully this association will hold.

I bought the NAV unit off of ebay and since I had a base RL, the only thing I had to do was put the new DVD Nav unit into the Trunk and voila NAV, there is just so much technology in this car that it can be befuddling at times. Is it worth 149 to upgrade to 4.92 from 4.56?

If you look on the back of the key fob it has a number, for example, my key fob has #1 on it, will the car always recognize my key fob as driver 1 or is it possible to have the key fob with the #1 on it the back of it be associated with driver 2 with the car if I try to link it that way?

IMO you are over thinking this.

Is your wife carrying Key FOB2? If so the settings are following her FOB and you can't edit it with Key FOB1.

Who ever unlocks the car gets control no matter what door it is.

Heavy_rl is correct.

Whichever key fob is associated with the car when you turn it on (see the MID say Welcome Driver 1 or Welcome Driver 2), that is the one you are configuring the settings for.

However, (and I think this is your original problem), if you DON'T have any fob associated and thus it just says Welcome (with no driver number below it), the car is turned on with no association, and then all your personalization settings will be grayed out.

Make sure you have both fobs linked (see directions on back of fob) and you should ever get the grayed out settings problem.

Hope this helps...
