My RL shut off while accelerating...why?

Heading home from work and I am making a right hand turn onto the highway...as I do, my '06 RL suddenly shuts down and is completely dead. I shift into neutral, turn the key and she turns right back on. She acted like the battery had died and made me put the radio code back in, and all my radio presets are gone.

I replaced the battery myself a couple of weeks ago. I popped the hood and checked all the battery connections and they seem fine. Can anyone give me any theories on what caused this? As always, your help is much appreciated- thanks!

If you replaced your battery, it could be a bad altenator. Just a theory. To check if your altenator is bad, you will need a multimeter. Set the positive to positive and negative to negative (from the multimeter to your battery). Turn multimeter to 20dc. Then it should read a number (example 12.5). Start the engine and recheck the numbers should be slightly higher. If the numbers are decreasing you have a bad altenator. Hope this helps.

I doubt it's the battery if it started back up. It may be a fuel pump issue.

Yeah, sounds electrical to me. Car suffered a voltage drop and the computer shut down.

Oops. I missed that part.

It's still electrical and probably a short as shahram said.

If the battery was dead the alternator would be able to keep the car running. If the alternator died, the car would be drawing off of the battery until it completely died. Once dead, there is no way it would start again and continue to run.

There's a short somewhere.

You SURE the battery connects are not a little loose? This just sounds suspicious for a position-related malfunction.

I bet loose connection at the battery. I know he said he checked, but the positive connection is a bit weird if you ask me.

that other end of the cable from the battery is critical

happened to me years ago, not on an Acura

very embarrassing once you find it (based on the 100 other things you tend to check first)

Ok...I went out and re-did the battery connections...cleaned and tightened them, etc. I will let you know if it happens again. Thanks to all for your assistance here!
