Mechanical Noise at 2/3 gear...
When slowly accelerating uphill on my 2005 Acura RL to about 40-50 MPH from 0, keeping the RPM near 2500-3000, I hear a rather "high-pitched" sound that seems to be coming from the bottom of the car. I have already brought my car in and have already had my drive train replaced, which actually made the sound a little more pronounced now. The sound can really be heard when the car changes from 2nd to 3rd gear.
Do others have this issue? If this has been previously posted, I appologize for the repetition. I am just extremely frustrated at having to deal with mechanical issue on such a new car that costed $50,000.
Any information is greatly appreciated.
I thank you for your time and concern.

What I occasionally hear from inside the car is almost like a noisy belt or perhaps a bearing...and even remotely reminds me of my Honda when the air filter needs replacing...kind of a nasal choked up sound that makes me "feel" that the car's exhaust is somehow not getting to the tailpipe...I can't adequately describe the sound...the whiney sound occurs directly in relation with rpm's on acceleration and changes with gear changes. The other day it seemed louder than usual, but when I put the window down, I discovered that it's more noticeable inside the cabin than outside. It seems to be coming from the engine compartment, or as you mentioned, from underneath the car. And, I don't particularly notice it all the time. Until something breaks or a light comes on, I'm considering it normal.
'05RL VIN 7,000's 26 or 27,000 miles thereabouts.
I wonder if the noise I sometimes hear is this. I will be driving along and hit like 60km/h then 125km/h and can hear a whine that is there for a space of say 2km/h around those two speeds. Not like super loud but it is there. However, I have noticed that after i have washed my car it goes away but then comes back later.
This wasnt there from the start when I got the car. I noticed it prolly in Sept or so of last year (have had the car since dec 04) and again, it sometimes goes away after a cleaning or whatever.

Another popular site with a RL forum has many members complaining about the same noise in either their 05 and 06's. When they took rides in a new one on the lot it too had the same noise.......
I've got the same sound, but attribute it to the placement of the transfer case. Make sure the AT fluid is at the right level. From my understanding if its overfilled, the transmission can/will make noise.

Thank you all for your responses. My service manager told me to take the car in for the mechanics to listen once more. I will ask them to check whether the AT fluid is at the right level. I am curious to understand how over filling the fluid will cause noise.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Mine makes that whining noise between 65 and 75 mi/h or so. I actually recorded on my ppc but those sound clips can not be exported I think. Useless!
So I may try again with my laptop and record an mp3 instead so I can take it to the dealer and have him/her listen to it before handing over the keys.

The sounds that I am hearing are actually probably the same sounds that the people in the thread, "drivetrain noise between 70-75", listed below, are hearing. I think they are decribing it as a turbine sound of some sort. And based on what people are saying their, it does not look too good.

Symptoms:
At 1400 RPMS (+/- 100) I experience an intermittent noise similar to cross wind turbulence with slight vibration.
The noise is dependent on engine RPM, not speed.
When the noise occurs, Engine RPM decreases slightly. (50-100 RPM)
Consequently you can feel slight acceleration/deceleration.
The noise seems to be coming from the forward half of the passenger side vehicle.
If I drive for more than 10 seconds in this RPM range, I have a 50% chance of generating the noise.
I first noticed at about 50K miles, but shrugged it off as cross wind turbulence noise.
It has been in the last couple weeks that I have been able to rule that out and determine what conditions exist before noise is created.
It will not occur when in neutral or park at 1400 RPM.
I have appointment with dealer tomorrow.
If any one has additional info that I can share with dealer, it may assist in their touble shooting and repair.
Thanks

This seems different from the driveline whine that is well described in the Whining noise at about 70 Mi/h: Acura case number thread. Not sure what this one is. Definitely dealer time.
