don't take my comments too personally, I can tell you got a soft spot for Mustangs. But if a car that's 500lb heavier with the same size engine AND 4 doors can keep up with a Mustang...the Mustang already lost

Did I mention the R-Spec would do it without making much noise at all? haha, Hyundai's are kicking some @$$...competition good for the market. I was hoping my next car would have a dual clutch tranny but it seems 8 speed will have to do for now.

No offense taken; you shouldn't take mine personally either. I'm just giving you crap for preaching about Hyundais on an Acura forum.

Just some comments:
- I think American cars are crap, especially Mustangs. If you GAVE me one, I would sell it.
- The R-Spec weighs 4,046 - 4,154 lbs.
- Hyundais are praised for their reliability, but they have only been producing their "nice" cars for what, 3 years or so? (The first Genesis came out in 2008.) I'm not saying anyone is wrong or that they can't be reliable, but I don't understand how they can get that praise with time-tested experience. We'll all see if Hyundai can live up to its hype.

I'm not selling anything even though I sometime sound like it, I'm a serious advocate for "bang for the buck" idea.

just sharing my experiences as I go along, don't hate on Hyundai

It would be nice if they made a new model between the equus and the genesis r. I think the equus is pimp, but it.be nice if they made a drivers version cutting some of the extra comfort features for the back and putting the savings towards performance and more front comfort or technology. What i would do is strip the reclining seats and back massagers and rear controls, use the money towards pimping 500hp outta the engine, add a infrared camera for night driving, and a more performance orientef susprnsion and massage seats up front.
Would hate to spend that kinda money to become a chofeur. Its kinda like bentley and rollsroyce, one is meant to be driven and the other is to be driven around in.

if 429hp is not enough for you...I hope you're a cop with PBA cars plastered all across, because that's the only way you'll be able to get through your first day.

another fun Hyundai fact: the battery is in the trunk. I think that makes for very easy HID wiring front and back as there is a terminal in the front you can feed from.

SWEEET!

To simply scare the bmw's, audi's and lexus back into their stables, you can pull up next to one and say this was cheaper and has more power.

Power helps to deal with the weight of the vehicle. It's not a light car by any stretch of the imagination. I've seen some videos and I am lead to believe the R ver is not too much R but more of an refined version of the car with a bit more pick up. AWD and more power would be nice thou, to compensate for the loss with the awd system.

R is slight suspension stiffening plus a healthy does of HP plus direction injection vs the 4.6 385hp. and can't forget the 19" rims which are nice.

i wouldve kept the rl and waited for the Rspec because thats what u wanted a big v8 no? and too trade in your car for another v6 dont make any sense unless u just wanted a new car. the genesis 3.8 is not more car the the 3.7RL. but its still a nice car for your money. just my two cents.

well, I came to the dealership for a test drive, wasn't really set on buying. But after the feeling the power of the direct injection V6, I saw no need for a big V8, even though it sounds nice. More trouble than fun as far as I could see.

V6 is quiet to accelerate and I was doing 80 before I realized. It is much faster than the RL, I'll put on my little GT2 timer on it a bit later after I get a jammer and detector moved over.

I would believe it's faster simply b/c of the drivetrain. The SH-AWD loses so much power it saddens me. Also, the 2011 RL weighs 200-300 lbs more.

That GDI Hyundai developed is pretty mind blowing. They took the same displacement engine from the 2011, changed how the fuel gets delivered, and gained 43 hp (15% more) while increasing fuel economy. It will be interesting to see if other makers try to copy this technique.

I have not narrowed down my search, mostly because I haven't had the time to do any test driving. Acura is blowing up my phone since they know I somewhat have interest in the ZDX. Dealer called me and offered me a ZDX Tech for $44,800 which is below invoice. Until I can actually get out and test drive, I won't make any kind of decision, but I believe that will begin either tomorrow or Monday.

Sorry 'bout that. I was contemplating if we had officially jacked it. I blame 037; he started it.

My vote is the 2012 SH-AWD TL Advance.

oo7spy, to be honest I never considered the new TL's, none of them. Being a previous TL owner ( 3 of them ) I know that they are quality cars, but its not the car for me. The interior of the new TL's just feels to small, I need more room.

I am 100% right Plastik.

I never owned a BMW. I owned an Acura TL then an Acura RL.

I test drove the Mercedes E350.

That car is geared for an older crowd.

Update - I did make it to BMW of Seattle today and let me tell you what a disappointment. We arrived this afternoon and it was nice out, so I was wearing a t shirt and some cargo shorts, my wife was in shorts too. No One even said hi to us, they were to busy hanging out and telling stories, guess they thought we couldn't afford a car from there. After a while of looking around a guy shouts at us across the room "if you need anything let us know." Seriously ? This is their customer service ? My wife just looked at me and said lets go, we aren't doing business here and she is right. Guess it is their loss, on to the next dealership.

pst...I'm still enjoying my Genesis

turned eco mode off, put it in manumatic...it spits out gears perty quick.

stock fuel saver tires have to go, I don't enjoy hearing screeching, but...29mpg on highway with 3 people and a/c full blast.

0-60 7.8s with 5 people in car in full auto.

didn't get a good run empty as I was lining up for it someone got pulled over like 30ft in front of me...

yea...the power outlet would work consistently. On this Korean thing I can't figure out why sometimes it's off...

otherwise, I'm not looking back at all.

You've only had it for a week, of course you are still enjoying it. TEll us how you feel in a year or two, when its no longer "brand new".

BMW dealerships are snobs. That is one thing I hear a lot. Great cars yes.. But customer service stinks.

What about a cpo M5?

Big, fast, certified warranty!

If you are planning on kids but none yet you could get by with a 4 seater like an IS-F... But they are not too big inside.. Smaller than the rl.

Used RS4? Or s4? Those are nice

Fair enough. I have only ever been in a TL once, and that was to test drive (an '08 I think) when I started searching for the RL. I didn't like it. The salesman told me it was more of a "driver's car", but I disagreed. I could tell when I told him I was looking for a used RL around $30k he looked at me and thought, "this kid can't afford an RL. He needs a TL." Needless to say, he was wrong. The loss of a power telescoping steering wheel would be enough of a deal breaker for me.

As I stated in this thread earlier, I am not a fan of buying used, its just not what I like. I know you can get some great deals on some great cars when they are CPO, but I enjoy a car a lot more when its "brand new". My car is a weekend car, so it doesn't get a lot of miles. My RL that I just sold was 5 years old and had less then 33000 miles on it, so I get more of it being new.

Kinda like the BMW Sales person who gave me the feeling he thought I couldn't afford it. The TL is a great car, I had three of them, but I just need more room inside the car and TL is doesn't offer the same feeling the RL did.

Well at least my salesman acknowledged my presence and entertained me. But other than that yes, people making assumptions about you because of how you look.

I found your BMW experience somewhat amusing. On Friday, my fiance and I were eating at a nice, tiny Italian restaurant with moderately high prices, but a VERY casual atmosphere. 4 people came in, and in a very snotty tone, made the server who greeted them aware of the number of people in their party and the fact they had a reservation. We found them to be rather rude considering the server had no idea who they were. I looked outside and there was the 7-series they had just pulled up in. Apparently the drivers are just as much better than you as the salesmen are. I wouldn't want to be a part of that crowd. Besides, I use my blinker religiously, and apparently that is a no-no when you drive a Beemer.

actually I'm happy with it overall...not just cause it's new. It's a nice roomy car, I finally have a useable trunk unlike the RL, the back seat fits 3 large people, even though the middle person was me and not happy at one point.

One female driver complained the steering wheel was too heavy. Nobody complained about the ride, it's nice and quiet at speed.

The black on black is definitely an improvement over red on taupe even though my wife prefers the red car.

either way...new jammer and tints on the way. Going with 45% Huper Optik this time as the same guy stopped using 40%. The darker car I can assume I'll have the same result...lots of heat rejection without losing sight of the outside world at night.

New Update - I was talking with a local Acura dealer about their ZDX, this has been going on for a couple of weeks. The Sales Person was new, very little experience and was very slow to get back to me. Every time he would say he would contact me he wouldn't and then when he did he would have a new excuse every single time. So finally the other day this happens yet again and I email him saying I am tired of that and not to email me back with yet another lame excuse. Five minutes later my phone is ringing, it stops, starts back up again, stop and starts again a couple more times in less then 10 minutes. I text the number back to not blow my phone up and then I get the message " I was calling on behalf of Matt ( that's the sales person ) , no need to get smart, just trying to help Matt and the deal if u are still interested". Well I am no longer interested in dealing with that, that is for sure. What ever happened to customer service and what ever happened to respect ? I don't get it, but I do know that is a sure way to lose my business, no matter what.

you forget that in the long run, what matters is getting the car you want at the right price.

other stuff...well...it's optional, nice, but optional.

Well first off I am just sharing my experiences as I go and you are entitled to your opinion, everyone is, but I disagree. To me customer service is extremely important and when I get this from the sales people, well then I don't end up doing business with them. Pretty simple I think.

Quick Reply: Looks like my RL is sold
