Key Fob/Remote battery replacement?

The strangest thing happened this past weekend. The MID on our 05RL told my wife (driver 1) that that her key battery was low. When I got into the car later that afternoon with my key (driver 2), it said the same thing.

First question - how hard is it to replace the battery? Anyone know where I may be able to find some details on how to replace this myself?

Second question - is it just me or do you also think its weird that both batteries decided to go low at the same time?

Thanks!

Figured out how to change the batteries - requires two CR2025's.

Ran down to CVS to pick up 4 of them and replaced the batteries in both fobs and guess what? The low battery MID still pops up for my wifes keys, but not mind.

I'm hoping that sometime today the RL will figure out that the batteries have been changed because the little 'i' annoys me.

Does your wifes fob operate? I.E. unlock/lock the doors. If yes then link the fob - instructions are written on the back of the fob. If no then check the new batteries by swapping them with the operating fob. I am assuming that the batteries are inserted correctly?
BTW - it seems that the 05 batteries are all going out about now. So anyone with an 05 should get themselves a couple of 2025's.

From the 2006 Manual, p 167.

Replacing the Remote Battery

Replace the batteries if necessary.

Battery type: CR2025

Remove the built-in key.
Remove the upper half by carefully
prying on the edge with a coin.

Replace the old batteries with new
batteries. Place the batteries so the +
side is facing up. Snap the two
halves of the remote case back
together.

Just spoke to my wife, it appears that the MID finally reset and all is good in the universe again.

So I thought I would dig this thread back up, since I just had to replace both of my batteries on my key fob's. Weird thing is, I only use one remote, the other is in a box, never used, but maybe three or four times since I bought the car. Anyways, I bought 5 batteries (CR2025) on Ebay for $2 shipped and replaced the batteries myself. The back cover on the fob comes off really easy and the rest is self explanatory.
