Gear ratios - question

I found this specification where gear ratios look pretty good on the paper - however, I wanted to share my experience on recently bought RL and ensure I am not missing anything:

I feel that first and then second gear takes too long to switch into the higher gear when I normally accelerate. I start from the traffic light and go up to 3000-3500rpm until it switches into second gear; now if I really start moving slow than it switches around 2500-3000. My question is: how normal this is? I drove V6 3.5 Nissan before that was bit jumpy on start but had no power after the acceleration so I want to make sure it is not the after-effect of that car.

I plan to do 3x3 trans. flush and rear differential flush since I don't know if it was done - but not sure if this gear ratios I experience are normal for Acura RL... anyone had similar experience? Thanks all!

Factory Specs state:
First Gear Ratio (:1): 2.70
Second Gear Ratio (:1): 1.57
Third Gear Ratio (:1): 1.07
Fourth Gear Ratio (:1): 0.69
Fifth Gear Ratio (:1): 0.48

Sounds completely normal to me. However, I usually shift at 4000 rpm. This car picks up after that, and VTEC engages at 4950 RPMs.

Nissans are low RPM, all torque, gas guzzlers... no comparison IMO to Honda...

With that said, I think yours is fine... turn the radio up and ride.

VTEC does not engage until 4950?
Feels like it engages around 3500 - or is that something else at work

I guess I should have searched
There is something happening at 3500, but it is not VTEC just like you said

the intake goes from half volume capacity usage to full volume capcity usage at 3500rpms. Its a great thing. Helps improve low end torque and high end horsepower along with vtec.
