Found It!! Riddle Solved

The riddle of the missing RL remote has been solved. I found that sucker after several weeks of searching the garage and under the seats.
Follow this link: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3877 to see what I'm talking about.
Those of you who correctly posted that the remote was, indeed, in the car were absolutely correct. I actually had to take it to the dealer, who had a tech search under the driver's seat to find the missing remote wedged (and hung up) between the seat rail and the console.
So, if you ever get to Phoenix, I owe those who guessed right, a cold one (beer or iced coffee of your choice).

good deal! I lost my remot also the other week, but I KNEW it was in the car because when I stepped away, the beep didn't go off, secondly, the car started when I turned it off.... looked a bit harder and found it almost in the same location you described.

How's this one: I had a customer who lost his remote but the car would sometimes start without the other remote being around, sometimes lock and unlock. Turns out the damn thing was wedged next to the driver's side upper shock tower!

Don't forget this feature ... the car can also detect misplaced paired cell phones. I once was looking for my "missing" cell phone, but I was convinced that it was still in the car because the info display told me that it was there. And it was, hidden in the trunk and obscurely placed inside my briefcase!

How could you lock the door if it will not let you lock the fob in the car?

I believe that is only the trunk where that feature works.

No, the car won't let you lock the keyfob in. Every time I've tried, the doors refuse to lock.

Some clever kid took a fob, threw it into the trunk through the trunk pass through (wow can I use 'through' anymore?) and locked the doors. He thought he was Einstein or something!

you can lock the door with the KEY.
I have done it many times, even with the engine running (winter, getting drycleaning etc).

Yeah but I have had a link to the phone even 20 ft away. I know that because sometimes I'm in the house, the cell phone rings or I'll make a call and there is no one on the other end. Then I'll hang up and I'll see Handsfree link disconnected, which means it was connected.

There sure is a keyhole! I've never used it, but it's definitely there.

you can lock a fob in the car if you have the second fob in your possession outside the car

getakey is right. We were able to lock/unlock the car with remote #2 while remote #1 was missing inside the car, but couldn't use the door handle nipple to lock it. The MID always welcomed driver #2 on the display when we turned the ignition on. With the lost remote #1 inside the car, anyone could have started it and driven away, if we couldn't have locked it using remote #2. (which is a scary thought).

gotsand - Thanks for the "endorsement"
Seems like I was able to lock with the nipple when one FOB in car (in wife's purse) and one in my pocket.
I know for sure you can't lock a FOB in the trunk no matter what. Was on a trip and did not know wife had put the FOB in one of the luggage pieces by accident. Took us a while to figure that one out!

That one may drive you crazy as well, the car can pick up a linked bluetooth phone that is up to 30 feet away. 30 feet in every direction is a big circle to search in.

The trick is to park the car where you don't think there is a possibility that a linked phone can be picked up by the car's HFL (a place far away enough from the house or your office where your car is parked). If the MID indicates a linked phone, that can ONLY mean that the phone is inside the car, which also means that your search should be limited to within the car.

Anyone ready for Acura microchipping? No transmitter, fob or keys needed.

I have a colleague who saw me touch the dimple of the doorhandle. Later he told another colleage that my Acura had fingerprint recognition.

How about an extention of Voice Recognition?

"Good morning dear RL"

<Would you like to unlock the doors?>

"Yes!"

<unlocking>

I suppose the same colleague will conclude that you cannot open the car door when you wear gloves in the winter

Voice recognition can be readily implemented in opening locked doors, as it is already being used to communicate with the car in many different ways. However, a friend of mine once asked if I would be able to communicate with the car when I have a cold, sore throat or stuffy nose.

In the future, cars may even drive themselves to our voice commanded destinations. But then, it will take away the fun associated with driving the car itself.
