Finally made the plunge

And glad I did. Bought an 08 w/ tech, 9k miles. Flew to Minneapolis on Friday morning, did the transaction, drove 340 miles home. What a great way to get to know your car!

It's an incredible car, everything discussed on this forum, all the accolades, are on the money.

Power is solid, doesn't feel as quick as my M35, but its respectable. Interior is soooooo nice, everything is within reach, Nav is very accurate, screen is crisp, everything just works.

The mileage on my road trip was un-real, computer showed 30.5 MPG! That was beyond my expectations.

Only two "issues" I've notice. One, the tranny seems a little abrupt at times, especially when slowing from 60 down to 30, for instance. It seems to slam into gears on the downshift. Two, for some reason, on my last mile home, I made a turn and the radio quit. It showed the station info, volume showed control showed going up and down, but NO SOUND. I stopped the car, turned it off, and then started it back up and it worked fine. No issues since?

Anyway, glad to join the club, the car is superb.

Congrats on the purchase. The radio is no biggy... a few "deaf" spots on XM. The tranny is strange. My '05 will stay in 5th gear if I slow from 60 to 30mph. It will then bump down to the right gear if I pick up the pace. I don't sense any downshifting.

At any rate, happy motoring!

Congrats and welcome.

Certainly have your local dealer check the car. If you do not have a local Acura dealer you have done business with, find one and build a relationship. It will pay dividends in the details.

Tranny issue may be low fluid. The RL tranny is pretty smooth and tuned so that some complain it does not have aggressive enough throttle tip and shift points in they way your M35 does. Infinity is notorious in creating a rush with aggressive throttle tip and and exhaust note. The only time I have noticed any sluggish gear chenges with the RL has been when feathering the throttle at the moment it is to shift.

As far as the radio cut off...was it on XM? If so, it is not uncommon to have it do that when signal is blocked. Also there is a lot of technology merging with Sirius to reduce redundancies causing service interruptions.

Welcome to the (exclusive) club of RL owners. Good advice above.

Enjoy the car! And if it was on XM when the radio faded out, don't freak, something was just blocking the signal and you must have been in an area without signal repeaters.

Congrats! You will fall in love with the RL, do remember not to neglect the wifey!

Me thinks this is our 3rd new member this week. Very tight race this month between brand new 09 RL sales vs. Acurazine 05-08 RL newcomers.
