Extended Warranty

I know there was a thread about this earlier, but I want to find out again if anybody is going to get the warranty? If you have more than 6000 miles with the new warranty plan you cannot get the warranty without a $100 deductible. I have 3k miles and am considering - just wanted to find out about the rest of you.

My local dealer offered me $50 above cost. Total price $1030.

They got rid of those warranty plans. They only offer 100 deductible now (and 0 deductible if your car has less than 6k miles on it at time of purchase). The price I was quoted was 7yr/100k miles. They now offer 8 year and 120k miles.

I've owned a few Honda/Acura vehicles for 8 or more years without a single problem - ergo, I feel that the extended warranty is unnecessary. If this was a GM or Ford forum, my answer would be very different.

Strange but true. I bought a certified RL with 2100 miles on it. The certified warranty is added to any factory warranty and makes for a better than new car warrranty!

We have 13,000 milies on our 05RL and I was quoted $1685 for 100,002 thousand miles with 2 additional years beyond original warrantee -- with $100 deductable each visit. Have any of you found a better price for this? Thanks for your replies.

Even if you sell the car before the factory warranty is up the resell value of the car may be higher because of the extended warranty. It depends on how reliable these cars turn out to be a few years from now. It sure has lots of gadgets that could break and aren't cheap to replace. Not sure yet what I'll do. I wish I had gotten extended warranty on my S4, would have saved me several $K. Then again on my Eclipse it probably was a wash. It paid for a minor repair and I got somewhat more when I sold it.

Of course you should only get a transferable extended warranty.

Well - I went ahead and bought the 6yr 100k. $1030. I figured even if the navi ever dies it would cost a fortune to replace.

The finance rep did make a good point when i signed the paperwork during the purchase. There are so many new technology features on this car that its good to have warranty on them just like our computer that crash anytime. So now I still debating if I should get it. But he was quoting me like $2200 for 7years/100k miles. I thought that was a lil overpriced. Anyone feeling the same way?

Yes, that is very expensive. Check out www.curryacuracare.com. Mine was $1030 for 6yr 100k miles. That is $50 above dealer cost. I can put you in contact with the same dealer I found that price from - PM me if you want the information. If not, I would suggest simply calling your local dealers and saying that another dealer quoted you $50 above cost and if they match it you will take it.

Ofcourse!

AcuraCare only.

I have the 5yr/100k b/c of how much I drive.

The 120k was not available when I purchased my Ac.

Wasabe, no, I didn't negotiate. They tried to get me to buy the paint/leather protection and were lowering that price but of course I didn't bite.

No. I'll probably trade it off before the factory warranty is out.
