Duh.
Duh.
True story:
I was driving today in the 'burbs when I saw a sharp-looking RL in front of me in the next lane. '06, 07 or 08 (didn't have the mud flaps that were standard in '05), black over parchment -- same color combo as mine, so naturally I liked it -- with maybe 50% tint on the front side windows and about 75-90% on the rear side windows and the back. Clean in every sense of the word.
Naturally, I'm wondering who's driving such a nice car, so I pull up next to it. It's a somewhat unattractive-looking 40-ish woman with one of those overly busy pairs of glasses, the kind with black parts and shiny parts and pointy parts that might gash your hand open if you touched them. And like all ignorami these days, she's yammering away on a cell phone as she drives.
I pull past her, no longer as interested. Then it suddenly hits me: She's driving a car that has the most advanced Bluetooth implementation of its era, and she's talking with a CELL PHONE IN HER HAND.
There ought to be some sort of extra licensing required to drive a car this cool. Maybe a supplementary intelligence test or something. There has to be a way to ceremonially strip the keys from someone like this and make them drive an Impala with fleet-issue dog-dish hubcaps as punishment. That's one man's opinion, anyway.

Excuse me, I don't use the bluetooth feature, besides that,
It is a little messed up in my opinion, anyone can drive any car as long as they won't hurt anybody. I understand you think the world of the RL but face it, anyone with money can buy one. Exactly how old are you? i was 20 when i got my RL. Am i too young to drive one? Most people that I see drive a RL are people over 40 years of age.
Maybe I am over thinking exactly you are implying and I am just being mean. lol

Remember guys, this is one guy's opinion, as he himself states.
One of my pet peeves is people driving a car with BT, holding their cell phone, as well. One such moron rear-ended my then brand-new CTS-V two years ago, driving his Lexus RX holding his phone....grrrrrr

I don't dislike bluetooth; it just gives me headaches. i worked at a cellphone company in the past for like 5 years; i seen every bluetooth and used almost all the good ones. after an hour i get headaches from wearing it, i don't connect my phone thru the RL's BT cause i don't want to get headaches. Then again, i don't even talk on my phone that much, rarely do i call somebody, if i don't text message someone first. the RL's BT doesn't do text.

The OP is humorous. I would like to think only refined ladies of sophistication and natural, understated beauty would drive cars such as mine. Somehow I suppose that would validate something about me when in fact such women would not care a bit what I drive.
I'm certain we all have been annoyed by such behavior, and that we all have been guilty of it at one time our another. My latest infraction was Friday in my 1st conference call in my new RL. I was using its BT and nav at the same time. I could not figure out how to mute the RL so I was holding my droid while trying to pay attention to my call and navigate an unfamiliar city. I was totally distracted and far less successful a multitasker than I thought I could be.

Truth be told, there are times when I've been bedeviled by my phone in my RL. One such occasion is when I'm calling a voicemail service that demands I press digits to proceed with the call. (I half-remember there's some way to do this built into our system, but I sure don't remember what it is.)
Another is when I originate a call from the phone and the car picks it up, or when I hit the Call button on the phone once the car has grabbed the call. The call starts bouncing back and forth between the car and the phone about once every second, and it's impossible to do anything to stop it except to shut the phone's power off. It's very exasperating when it happens.

The woman might have one of the phones that doesn't work on the bluetooth that Acura installed in the car.
However, that shows you just how distracted drivers are when they are on the cell phone and driving. Some woman was yakking away on the cell phone and blew by me...I was doing 80 so you know she was going faster than me, not even aware of the world around her in my opinion.

Simply put, if you are in an RL, and you are not using handsfree, you are a MORON.
I have 3 different devices paired in my RL....my work Blackberry, my personal Cell, and my G/F's cell, I have had zero issues with each, and I even have an automatic feature with my work voicemail where it automatically calls my Blackberry when a voicemail is left on my work extension, and I have to type menu choices and my VM password, and I just punch them in on my BB(after pulling over and stopping so as not to inconvenience other drivers.)
Once connected I continue on my way, looking like I'm talking to myself.

I was ready to buy another phone when it looked like my Samsung Fascinate would not pair 100% with my 05. After talking to Verizon, Acura, and Samsung there was no fix. They all felt that the two were not compatible for whatever reason.
Now the good news! A month ago while removing the drivers seat to replace a sensor, the battery was disconnected for over an hour. I guess the reboot on the B/T was the magic because ever since the handsfree is working perfectly, just like on my last phone!
I love B/T and use it every day. (Also impresses people when the "girl" mutes the stereo with "You have an incoming call"!). Fun and safe. I say use it!

There's a law in CA requiring hands free while driving. What kills me is seeing people holding there cell phone away from their ear and talking on the speaker phone.
Most of the time in luxery cars that would have BT capability.

We are not allowed to legislate against stupidity and we must not discriminate against idiots. In the good ol' days the bears would have got them but we forgot to save the bears.
If my iPhone is plugged into AUX, the sound comes through the stereo. I still have to talk into the phone mic, but I don't have to hold the phone to my ear. Like a glorified speaker phone. That's my guess.
How do you plug your iPhone into Aux? Where's the Aux jack -- or did you have an aftermarket one installed?
The AUX jack is a 3.5mm connector used typically for headphones. In your car, it is in the bottom console compartment where the 2nd auxiliary power plug is. I am not sure if all of the cars got it. Does your stereo say AUX/CD? It may have been a tech package option that became standard later.
An interesting thread I suppose, but there are other reasons why people may not use their Bluetooth. For my particular situation, if my kids are in the vehicle, there are certain conversations that may not be appropriate for them to hear, and if you're not extremely familiar with your Bluetooth setup it can be difficult and quite distracting while driving to switch from Bluetooth to the handset, especially if you use Bluetooth from different manufacturers, specifically, I find it much easier to switch to the handset in my Infiniti than the Acura.
My wife does not want her Blackberry connected to the Acura as she drives it the most and usually has the kids in the car. It is hard to generalize on this topic though. Otherwise, I agree it is annoying to see highly distracted drivers playing with their phones in general, in any car.

I think that the thread is interesting because of the number of postings supporting the nonuse of BT.
In 05 I thought it was one of the greatest features of the RL and I immediately went out to get a new BT phone to pair. Even today it seems that there are cars being manufactured without it and drivers who don't use it. Unfortunately BT will not become the norm until the government mandates it and it won't become used until the police enforce the laws to use it. At least 90% of laws are to mandate common sense because it is not very common.

Agreed. I was so hot to have it, I was paying extra for phones that had Bluetooth more than a year before I could afford the car.

I am one of those people who talk on their cell while driving the RL,so sue me!I would love to talk using my BT but my phones BT is messed up.Some manifacturer defect no one can fix. It's a Nokia 6700c you can check it out.Just simply i cannot turn ON my phones BT,therefor i cannot connect to my RL's BT,therefor i talk on my cell while driving

Like 007spy said, its like a glorified speaker phone when I use it but I can have my phone in the cup holder or on the center consoleand people can still hear me fine. Usually I'm playing music through my Droid 1 on it and a call comes through so I just answer it and talk through the cars speakers unless I have someone in the car with me.
Man, I use the hands-free BT phone feature all the time. I like the steering wheel controls, the in-dash Caller ID and the sound quality. I don't dial out with it, other than the few presets I've programmed into the voice control, but I take a lot of incoming calls.
It would seem comical to me to see someone using their phone hand-held or with a bluetooth earpiece in an RL.

I added it with the USASpec device. Also has the ipod/iphone plug that displays song info on the navi.

)Secondly - I think that you were better off having people think that you are an unsafe dipstick rather than you actually admitting in in writing.
