Do early VINs on new models make a difference?

I've heard [urban myth?] than the first 100 or so cars of a new major model change coming of the production line tend to have fewer issues than later VINs.

Looking at the comment on this board one gets the impression that 05RLs have had quite a few issues. My 05 has a VIN in the 20s and I have not really had any of the problems commonly mentioned.

Any truth to this urban legend [pun intended]?

I have an early 05 and have had it since birth. I always take to Acura for service and in its early days a simple oil change frequently involved software and or hardware upgrades.
These upgrades eliminated most of the headaches that others have mentioned pertaining to the 05's.
Some issues listed on this forum can be expensive but, I believe, that because I have always taken it to Acura they have also granted the "goodwill" upgrades and solutions.
E.G. my dimples have never failed me!

I would think the opposite. Higher VINS in the initial production run would give them more time to work out the bugs.

VINs that are released after lunch on a Friday are the ones to avoid.
