Close to buying an O6 - A few quick questions

Hello All,

I am close to purchasing an 06 RL. The car is not being sold at an Acura dealership therefore, I inquired about making sure the NAV DVD and owner's manual was with the car. I was told the following are accounted for with the car:
NAV DVD, Owner's Manual, On Star Manual, Navigation Manual, Consumer Information & Warranty Book, 2 sets of master Keys that come with the vehicle along with the bar code key id & Anti-theft Radio ID card.
Is this everything? When I test drove one at the Acura dealer I thought I recalled there being one additional key, maybe the valet key. Am I mistaken? Anything else I should make sure is with the car?

Thanks for any and all replies.

That's about right. There's no third/valet key (those are inside your master key fobs).

Great, thank you.

Additional question. Do all of the 06's include the Technology Package - the collision-mitigating braking system, adaptive cruise control and Michelin run-flat tires?

Thanks.

No, very few included these options.

i have to agree with chas... these are not included options. i have a 2006. you don't get a third key either. its in your key fob that you get. all of that is explained in your manual. but man you will have a blast with your car.

also when you get sign up on the owners page and put your info about your car.

good luck with your new ride.

Good luck with your purchase! 2006 seems to be the peak year for the RL.

Would you mind telling me the steps how to do that. I could probably eventually figure it out, but I would like to be able to access it quickly when I am at the dealer.

Thanks!

This is the messages function in the Nav discussed as Acuralink Messages in the OM. One of the subcategories of messages is diagnostic messages.

Go to the Information Screen
Select Messages

In the 2006 manual, about p 256, here are some excerpts

There are six message categories in
AcuraLink: Quick Tips, Feature
Guides, Maintenance Minders,
Recalls/Campaigns, Diagnostic Info,
and Dealer Appointment Reminders.
The system can store up to 256
messages.
Message categories can be added,
revised, or deleted through
broadcast messages from Acura.

Diagonstic Info
If an instrument panel indicator stays
on when it should go off, or a
message appears on the multiinformation
display, AcuraLink can
identify the problem, send the
information to Acura for analysis,
and then provide you with themost
accurate repair information available
all before going to a dealer. This
helps you handle the problem as it
occurs, preventing or limiting costly
repairs.

The AcuraLink system cannot
determine some mechanical
problems (such as squeaks or
rattles) that are not triggered by the
diagnostic indicator monitors.

A diagnostic message is generated if
any of the instrument panel
indicators stay on when they should
go off. For more information on the
instrument panel indicators.

When an instrument panel indicator
comes on, AcuraLink immediately
notifies you with the message,
‘‘Check more information.’’ If you do
not want the information right away,
select the Check Later option. If you
want the information now, select the
Check Now option. (If the navigation
screen is not active, you must select
OK from the navigation disclaimer
screen before you can check the
information.)

Depending on the severity of the
problem, the message will let you
know if you should see your dealer
immediately or if you can wait a
while.

You will see information from the
onboard troubleshooting database.
You can then use message options to
call your dealer for an appointment,
find the nearest dealer, or find out
more information about the issue.

Thanks. I did both AutoCheck and CarFax and both came out clean. I also called the Acura dealer where the car was serviced and no major issues.

Also, get an aftermarket warranty, if you can afford it (there are pages on this site about them - just do a search). Not sure of your mileage. You MAY need it, and IF you do, you'll be glad. This car aint your run of the mill Honda.
