Best and worst in reliability

Some redesigned or new Japanese models from Toyota and Honda, however suffered "first-year blues." The new Scion tC and the redesigned 2005 Acura RL, Toyota Avalon, and Honda Odyssey earned only average reliability scores, for example.
I guess everyone's experience is somewhat different. For me, it has been 5 times in the shop, 30 days out of service and still a host of unfixed problems. There really hasn't been much positive for me in owning this car. I really do believe that Acura screwed up royally by releasing this vehicle with some many techical problems.
My RL has been perfect, no rattles and no mechanical problems. Some minor assembly quality problems were fixed by the dealer quickly, in one case by taking a part a demo car driven by a manager to get me the part right away rather than making me wait. I've got close to 10K miles in 6 months and the car is rock solid.
It is the right car for me, and does all that I wanted from it when I bought it, and more. I paid close to list, but it was worth it. Its still a thrill to take it out on the road.
Yes, there is a delay on XM information, but I pride myself on winning the game of identifying the artist before it comes up on the screen. I've had the Nav reset once or twice, but it hasn't happened often or when I was relying on it. I still wish the Handsfree hookup with Treo worked better, but it's still way better than a handsfree earpiece. All these are tolerable too me, obviously less so to others.

Yes, was going to do it during the summer when I was having the battery drain problem and they ultimately got that fixed. The electronics (NAV, radio, CD player) have never been right. Now, I have the whining tranny at 70 mph and some other cosmetic stuff. So, it is questionable whether any of the remaining things are material enough to warrant a lemon claim.
I'm now pushing for a meeting with the factory field rep and the GM of the dealership. There just shouldn't be this many problems with a car in this price range.

Everyone including myself will agree with you on this statement. Unfortunately for buyers of European cars in this and even higher price ranges, the relatively isolated terrible experience you are having with your RL would instead be commonplace with the Euro $50K+ cars.
Count me as one of the many RL owners (for 13 months now) that have had no material issues and still get daily grins driving this car.

I took mine in for the XM delay fix when the fix first came out and it works like a dream now. I consider myself somewhat of an audiophile & I could not stomach that delay any longer. Especially considering I had XM in my CLS (installed aftermarket) & had no issues.
I agree with the guy who said he gets daily grins when he drives his car- so do I! Had mine since July 1st and I have no complaints. And I drive my cars for performance & luxury.
I had a kid about 10, 11 years old tell me I had a nice car. So much for the older demographics
