Battery constantly dies
Hey guys,
I have been having issues with my battery dying on me. It has died about 2 or 3 times in the last year. I have tried using the acura oem battery, diehard platinum and everstart ones and neither make any difference although the diehard seem to last the longest. I make sure to turn everything off before I leave the car. I had to put in a new battery tonight and that black box with the fuse in it would not fit on the new battery and was wondering what that was for and if i needed it. Also I was just wondering what could be causing the battery to constantly die like this and if you guys have ran into the same thing. Thank you very much for reading this and any comment is welcome i've just become extremely frustrated with this car as it has left me out in the cold -3 F here today multiple times and I dont know if i will buy another acura/honda again.

Thanks,
Nate

I'm pretty sure the acura oem battery has a decent warranty with it and you should be able to get it replaced for free at your local dealer. If its constantly dying on you and its actually testing as failed and not just that it needs a charge then likely something in your elec. system is over working it and your dealer should be able to test that out. If it tests as just needing a charge then its likely a problem with your alternator, also if it tests showing the CCA's are too high your alternator might be bad and stuck too.
Regardless I'd take it to the dealer and have em look at it. I use an optima in mine but thats just b/c of personal preference as I've used them since I was in high school.

If more than one battery has lost it's charge quickly, odds are it's not the battery but a current "leak" somewhere. There was an issue with the '05s where the battery would go dead quickly if you used the inside trunk release after shutting off the engine. There's a thread on it HERE.

There was a issue a while back where owners would leave the key position still in the ON when they thought it was off. Make sure you turn it all the way off even if you think you did. It's common on the RL it seems.
This happened to me a year ago with my RL. My RL actually left me stranded at work because of this.
, then died in my driveway. I had to have it flatbedded to the dealer.
Run, do not walk, to the dealer to have them check for a current leak. In my case, it was the trunk release control on the trunk itself (which had been installed two years prior by the dealer). It took the dealer a week to listen to me--they changed out the BT interface, both front door handles before they listened to what I was telling them about the trunk trying to open randomly. Once fixed, no problems. The BT unit is also known to have current leak sometimes.
Get it checked out before your car leaves you stranded again!

Get it checked out. In addition to bob's experiences, there are a number of older issues
There is a really old patch on AcuraLink
http://www.in.honda.com/rjanisis/pubs/SB/B05-022.pdf
Or maybe you did not get the software patch for the trunk switch applied that lland discusses
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=496091
or maybe that GoHawks had here, a voltage control module
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...=697558&page=2
which could be the same as Post #25 for a HIP Control Unit error
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=496091
or maybe something more pedestrian like the door light or the ignition switch in Post #2
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?p=7470349
Bottom line, the dealer may be able to better diagnose it, and if you are in the right time frame, maybe you get a new battery out of it.
