aftermarket motor mounts?

Anyone here actually using aftermarket mounts. i was thinking trying the TL Motor mounts 65a durometer. i know there will be a little more vibration. But i was wondering have they made anything for the transmission mount?

does the TL and RL Have similar casings for the auto trans?

Would avoid it. Those performance parts will probably add a lot of vibration. Sucks that parts are so damn expensive for this car. I feel ya.

Here's a thread that 007 pointed me to: https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-rl-2005-2012-76/i-think-we-have-solution-rl-drivers-810868/

I also want to find something else, the stock mounts are crap and expensive. Do you plan to change your transmission mount yourself, or have someone else do it? I'm trying to figure out if it's something I can do just by putting a floor jack under the transmission pan. Looks like it should work.

I'm essentially the same way. How do you plan to do the mount? I haven't seen any posts from others who have done it, but it doesn't look like it'll be hard.

I have the 2004-08 TL XLR8 Mounts and they are awsome. Yea a little vibs at idel but when u drive its solid. I only did the front and the rear mounts, the side mount is a little different from the TL. As far as Tranny mounts go, they are OEM. Our OEM motor mounts are weak from the get-go. If u get these mounts u dont have to worry about any other mounts. There is less play, and the tranny mounts dont have to move as much anymore.

Did you get the 62A durometer? Also, is the $300 price for a set of three (front, rear, side), of which only the front and rear can be used on the RL? I wonder if they'd be willing to sell just the two we can use for a cheaper price.

I thought I read that the RL mounts have a vacuum connection. If that's true, what did you do with the lines?

i am thinking about getting a metal shop to fabricate me a bracket so i can u the side mount as well. U really dont need it because the motor usally rocks back and forth. with all the support now i really dont think the side one is necessary. but its just laying in my trunk waiting to be installed.

Hm, good point. When I rev my engine, I get a lot of side-to-side rocking, which I suppose further substantiates the dealer's claim that my tranny mount is shot. With a transverse engine I guess you'd normally see mostly front-to-back movement.

If you didn't want to install the side mount, you could try selling it to a TL owner, I suppose.

How many mounts come in the kit from XLR8? All four? Is that what you bought?

They sell the mounts separately as well ($125 each), here's the link: http://store.excelerateperformance.c.../i-542459.aspx

I had to ask them, because their website is a mess and I couldn't find any way to browse to that page (maybe I missed it).

OEM front mount is $139.31 at OEMAcuraParts.com (http://www.oemacuraparts.com/find-pa...UNTS%20%281%29)

So the XLR8 is a few bucks cheaper and I bet it won't fail nearly as quickly. If the only downside is a slightly harsher idle, I can deal with that.

Any updates? I'm waiting to pull the trigger on a set until I hear about your experience with install.
