Adaptive headlights: getting error every 4 weeks or so

The RL has exceeded in every way my expectations.
Nevertheless, I'm getting on average a fault in the adaptive headlighht system every 4 weeks or so. There is no pattern - seems to be random, except it always has happened during the daytime. I typically can reset the error by turning off the ignition. But it's an annoyance that is not acceptable.

Is anyone else having this reoccuring issue?

Had it happen twice in 2005, and it hasnt happened this year (knock on wood).

Since it appears to be happening often for you, you should let your service department know. If they can't fix it, at least they can document it in your records just in case something does happen later down the road.

I had something similar happen, though not as often as you. Told my dealer about it and they immediately checked a position sensor on the steering. They replaced it while was in for an oil change and it has been perfect since. This is the only real repair I've had done on my '05.

Yes I too am extraodinarily pleased with my 05' RL but have also periodically gotten the adaptive headlight system not working error message. However, mine are more frequent than yours - there are times when it seems I get the message almost every other day or two - but mostly it averages every week and a half or so. Strangely, the lights are OK and my dealer couldn't find any problems with it.

I had this happen when I first got my '05 RL as well. Maybe about 3 times. Usually at dusk or near the evening. It has not occurred again since my first service, where they made several updates including swapping out the XM unit.

My experience with my 05 on the headlights is the same as Taitando's.
