2005 RL... Low Beam Headlight are the Inside Bulbs?

My driver side inside towards the grill headlight bulb is out. That's the low beam... right?

From Delray Acura, the low beam is $8.12; the high beam is $157.76!

Anyway, it's dark and I can't see how easy it will be to replace the low beam bulb. I done it plenty of times on Hondas as it usually is a twist and turn then plug the bulb in procedure.

Any experience out there?

Many thanks!

Uh, no that's the highbeam working in the DRL mode (daytime running light). It's a low watt voltage sent to the highbeams when no headlight is actually "on". Turn your headlight switch to ON and you'll see that the "outside" bulbs turn on. They are HID bulbs and expensive.

The lights that are, "inside towards the grill" should be cheap to replace as they are NOT HID. The correct highbeam bulb replacement is a 9005 and can be purchased for as little as $35/pair (Amazon).

Delrays OEM bulb is 60 watts... every place else seems to be 65 watts.

the low beams are HID and fairly expensive. $40 to $100 depending on where you get them.

Even PIAA has a OEM replacement twin pack for $55

http://www.amazon.com/19615-HB3-9005...1497753&sr=8-1

Why would you pay $40/50 dollars each from a Dealer?

I was quoting online prices that I saw when I did a quick search a while back. Maybe that was a pair.
My Dealer quoted over $100/each

He was quoting low-beam prices, the HID's. Those are the expensive ones. The 9005's you're talking about are the ones that the OP had the dealer quote $8/each for and are used for the DRL/high-beam. The 9005 DRL/low-beams are actually cheaper from the dealer than from PIAA or Sylvania. There's no point in paying high-dollar for the 9005's. 99% of the time they'll be operating in the low-wattage DRL mode and you won't see a difference in color from off the shelf AutoZone bulbs or expensive PIAA's when they're only getting half the power.

to get all this sorted out...the inside bulbs are daytime running lights/high beams, these are the cheap one's.

Low beams are the HID which are further apart and are covered by plastic caps and are fairly hard to reach for. Those are expensive (if bought from a dealer), bought from Amazon they should be like $60 in D2S

http://www.amazon.com/Philips-Xenon-...1503969&sr=8-2

if you know what you're replacing it should be piece of cake either way.

Those are not the correct bulbs! I ordered them.
The correct bulbs are D2S and look like this:

9005 are the correct high beam bulbs. The D2S are the correct low beam bulbs. The high beams are on the inside (toward the grill), and the low beams are on the outside (toward the fender).

Your fogs are H11 and are in the bumper.

ok, let's spell this out so it's clear.

Low voltage = DRL, high voltage = high beam.

if that doesn't work, try Wikipedia

Hmmm... That's weird. My car seems to have high voltage DRL and 12V high beams.

Hence, the .

I hate the Halogen DRLs. Why does the TL get bi-Xenon and we get a freaking Halogen DRL dual-purposed as a hi-beam? FAIL! Even the '04 TL had bi-Xenons.

White05RL-Wonder if you can help me.. Just purchased a 2005 RL only to find the low beam headlights are flickering occasionally..they actuall went out briefly and when I turned the switch off and then back on the came back on. I see there is an Acura dealer note that this could be a sign of the bulbs going bad..? is that correct...? can I use aftermarket HID bulbs..? Thanks for any help..

Probably the bulbs. Aftermarket is fine. The size is D2S.

the TL bixenon headlight was made due to the shape and design of the housing. The RL low beam actually out performs the TL in width and intensity. and you really only use your high beam in burst or rural areas so that should not be a huge factor.

High Beams working but DLRs are not on 2005 RSX Type S

So if the DRLs are not working but the High Beam still does, what would cause that? I am thinking that maybe they each have a separate fuse....?

Most likely separate fuses and relays, but you need a wiring diagram and the right forum to know for sure.
