The 12v plug is on the the other side, but aside from that does anyone know if the dimensions are the same? Nice to have a matching wood center console.

I just finished my project with the 09 wood console on my 07 RL. You will need to modify to make it fit.

If you don't mind my asking what did it cost you in parts? I assume you had to replace the shift gate underneath the shift bezel?

And how does it hold up with fingerprints and smudges? I can take it or leave it, but when I saw it at the auto show the 1st thing I saw when I opened the door was smears and fingerprints.

As it is I keep a microfiber cloth in the drink holder bin for stoplight dusting.
This might drive me over the edge.

The cup holder is direct replacement.

But the problem is really the center console piece, in which I need to cut and trim some parts to make the 12V fit. However, I did not connect the power to it because it will jam the movement for now. I will have to modify the socket to shorter one.

I better join the club....I keep my microfiber cloth under the driver's seat and a dust bristle brush in the armrest. Great for stoplight dusting of the console and steering wheel controls.

I've been tempted by the 2009 console, but the switched accessory plug has me concerned. I wonder if the JDM model still has the plug on the passenger side.....

I checked the JDM website, and, unfortunately, all 2009 RL has the wood console switch on the left side.

eVTEC, can you tell why the console trim by the front of the silver shift gate appears to be raised up considerably? In the photo there appears to be a height difference of about the thickness of 2 quarters stacked on each other. It looks flush at the back part of the silver trim and then appears to raise up as it gets to the front....

Question: I was at an Acura dealership looking at the 09 RL, The shifter is so nice and it flows well with the interior. What is the process in getting that swapped to our RL?

I went to LA Auto Show today and I checked two 2009 RLs. One of them has the raised trim on the front while another one has flush trim. I wonder if this is due to manufacturing toloerance?

Can someone go to dealership and check it out, too?

Great investigative work. What do you suppose part 68 is in the picture? Is it the console for the 05-08? It appears to have the power socket on the passenger side.

Thanks for the information. Is the socket that won't fit the original one, or the new one? I was wondering if you could try the older socket or the new socket to see if it would help at all. Maybe you can't swap them, I haven't taken that piece out of my car yet.

For $350, that mod would be a cool one to have, much like the steering wheel and shift knob.

As someone mentioned it above, my non wood RL has an uneven surface area around the shifter also so it is not just the wood enhancement.

The new socket is very different from the old. Even the mounting locations on the trim are different for the new socket. I did have to remove, cut and trim some parts in order to make them fit.

It sounds like even some cutting + trimming did not help in getting the 12V socket to fit? Hmmmm. There must be a way. What is holding it up, the shift gate or wiring or ... ?

I think its easier to buy the wood trim pieces from ebay and just stick over it. Its quick, cheap, and will look good. My 2 cents.

Used them in the past, never will again. The difference in quality and fitment is pronounced plus they have a very noticeable off color edge as they do not blend into the panel on the sides well. Pictures on Ebay will never how that angle of course , just the front face. They are much cheaper of course but I would be able to spot it from 10' away.
Some with less critical eyes may be pleased with them.

Difficult to judge from the pics, curious which wood tone is matches more, the steering wheel/shifter or the door trim as both two distinct tones to them. Given the proximity it matches the shifter. I prefer the older wood shifter to the newer leather one.

besides for the center console anyone knows if the 09 dashboard black wood or whatever it's called and door panels inserts are compatible with ours? it would be nice to switch out the fake wood color for the black inserts..btu then i would also need the steering wheel and shift knob in addition to the dash and 4 doors..

Probably about $2500 worth of parts there I would think....but sure it could be done.

When this gets all figured out by the pioneers, it would be great for one of you studs to lay out a parts list and DIY instructions. I noticed these wood elements in the '09 RL when I was at the dealership and was impressed: it really looks good.

As someone that has posted countless mods on other forums (many of which were new to the market) I can say the responses (PMs) can be sometimes overwhelming and even a few that are a bit extreme from their belief it is their God given right to receive a timely and quick answer.

There is a certain amount of know how that each man should understand when coming of age and though everyone is on a different level of mechanical skills I am sure it does not take a whole lot in terms of being able to fit this the same as the OP has done.

Fit it, what does not fit, trim. I am looking at doing this in a month or so and will post up some detailed pics. Need to do the go fast stuff first this month.

Well, thanks to 470hpGS400 for the comment. I just got back from my vacations and then I saw two new PMs from MITIA and the first was asking for the photo instruction, and then the second is his rude message saying I have no courtesy of replying him.

I think MITIA, you're the one who needs to grow up. Like I said earlier, nobody is obligated to reply to you, let alone take your rude comment. I am extremely surprised to see you yelling about me "punishing you guys" here about this minor issue.

It was a surprise to see this kind of nonsense from his PMs.

Here is the deal, I said it is a very easy mod and only needs some minor trimming of the console and the 12V outlet. It is easier than changing the headlight so I think you guys can definitely figure them out. Perhaps except for MITIA because he demands clear photo instructions.

In any case, I was away for vacation for quite a while and I am moving to a new place now so I have no time to take picture whatsoever. One of my heat switch's bulb is gone and if I replace it, i will take some pictures.

PS: I find it very hilarious for you to say I am going to punish the forum members by not posting the install instruction. Get a life man.
