09-12 Tailights on a 05-08

Is it possible to fit an 09-12 RL Tailight on a 05-08 in any way? Like retro-fitting it or something?

Just looking at the shape would tell you no. Unless you've got money to throw away... Even then Id use that money to just buy an 09 if you wanted that look bad enough.

But duct tape would fill in the gaps nicely so I think it could work.

You wouldn't have any reverse lights either. Sounds like the OP needs the MMC rear end swap.

:edit: I can't believe no one saved a picture of the '09 with a '05 rear end.

I have yet to install my a spec lip kit, when i do i will try the taillights i have for the 09+
I believe the curve to the quarter and to the trunk lid is the same so you may only need to install a 09+ bumper in conjuntion with the lights.
PM me if you can't wait and you want to try yourself!

You may be right about that. I've been looking back and forth at pictures of the 06-08 tails vs the 09+ tails. I think you'll probably find that the mounting points and wiring harnesses are completely different though. Obviously, it can be done because we've seen pictures of a 06-08 with an 09+ rear end on it. I like the rear of the 09+ better and the front of the 06-08 better...but I don't know that I like them together. You'll end up with a very rounded front and an angular rear.

Good luck passing inspection without reverse lights.

We saw an MMC front with 2G end, not the other way around.

Oh yeah, that's right. Don't know why you would want to do that. I like the 09+ rear but the front is .
