New 2017 RDX - Broken AC

Hi,

I very recently traded in my 2007 for a new 2017 RDX. After 400 miles the AC is blowing warm air. Dealer indicated freon was low but diagnostics showed no issues. They refilled freon and all was good to go. Three days later the same thing. Obviously there must be some significant leakage going on. Anyone have similar experience?

Thanks

Unless you are over on mileage (50K) this should be covered under OEM warranty. Bring it back to the dealer and have them fix it. If they haven't already they can add a dye to the freon to diagnostically show where the leak is coming from.

Shops!

OK, so this is a new car with no mileage to speak off and they refilled it without checking if the system is holding pressure.

Take it back to the dealership and drive one of their loaners until it's properly repaired. Why they'd charge the system and not test for leaks is a mystery. Oh, and if someone there tells you the system is low on "Freon" find another shop.

Cheers!

Because it was the quick and easy way out. Probably didn't believe a brand new system had a problem / leak.

My son had a new Accord ('14 LX) that blew warm air right after delivery, and after a gas recharge did OK for several months, then the same thing. IN his case turned out to be a bad compressor. But the key was putting dye in the freon to catch where the leak was at. Definitely a dealer warranty thing - although a hassle for a new car for sure....

New 2017 RDX - Broken AC

Thanks everyone for your postings. I figure I close the suspense with an update.

After returning the car they figured there must be a leak since the freon dissipated in a matter of days. This time they added dye. Still no leak after a couple of days. I could see they ran the AC for quite a while as they used up nearly 1/2 tank of gas over several days.

Finally, they followed the lines behind the engine wall and noticed the dye around an O-Ring. It was concluded that due to a bad O-Ring, under the right conditions, the freon would completely leak out. O-Ring and piping replaced. All good for past couple of weeks now. Thanks!
