Maybe not so quick

After reading all of the issues with this RDX and especially the nav package I'm really thinking hard about walking away from this car and maybe waiting for the 2014, if not another make altogether. I've been driving an X5 for the last 12 years and was loking forward to something nice but but a little less expensive. No so sure that the RDX is the answer.

What would you do?

Well I wanted more of a luxury car so I went with the 2009, got hydraulic power steering, a better AWD system, and a more powerful motor which is almost a full second faster.

Do you mean an earlier model as in 2009?

Thanks

If all you're doing is reading the "problems & fixes" forum on here then you are going to get discouraged. Most of the issues are minor and thats what the warranty is for.

If you go to any other car forum, im sure you will find many "problems & fixes" as welll which would also raise discouragement

Wait for the 14 model, im sure they will make some changes as well as address the shock absorber issue. Now that they have tested the waters and know its a major hit im sure they will add things and make it way better.

I agree that we are mostly car nuts and we probably are more likely to share our "issues" with each other than the mainstream public. I use to be long to a BMW M5 blog and I just don't recall so many complaints. I like the looks and feel of the car and now that I'm in my senior years the really high priced stuff is out of reach for the most part. Glad I found this site none the less and looking forward to learning more about the RDX. Actually the first Japanese car I have owned since the very first year the Honda Accord appeared in the US.

^^^ I agree that there has been a few issues with the 2013 model but keep in mind that we are openly sharing information to help one another, not to scare anyone away from the brand. The RDX is an amazing vehicle and offers lots for a fraction of the BMWs that being said, as you said, there a few little quirks. That being said, don't get overly alarmed....Keep in mind that very few (if any) of these symptoms have left any Acura owners stranded. Will the 2014 correct all these issues...I would say no. The 2012 TL I also drive has a ticking noise in the sunroof area, a problem that was traced back to the 2009 model....Acura prefers to fix in their shop than retooling the whole production line. The biggest, and most common problem that I see Acura having to fix is the problem is the "Thud" you hear in the rear suspension. Yes the homelink button is a bit "flaky" but will you be stranded out of your garage...no...you just need to press it a few extra time. I think Acura owners are very demanding of their brand because we have become accustomed to almost perfection, anything less will not do. Maybe BMW and Audi users are more tolerant and limit their rant on the catastrophic failure?

Funny...I was thinking more or less the opposite. That a BMW owner should be used to glitches. Our across the street neighbor had three debilitating snafus with her new X5 and nearly made them take it back.

I've experience very little in the way of 'problems' with our RDX over almost 6k miles...couple of little things, but nothing that can't wait until the first service. And don't let me forget about the friend of the next door neighbors who had the $1800 brake job on her two year-old Q5
