Long Starter Cranking
Get the battery tested thoroughly. Could be faulty.
And later on in the day when the engine and engine compartment are hot due to several trips during the day.
That is exactly the issue my friend with a 2005 Porsche 911 was experiencing. A normal start first thing of the day when the engine - engine compartment was COLD and then starts and non-starts as if the battery was nearly dead later on in the day when the engine - engine compartment was HOT.
He is not very technical and went on-line to Rennlist and grabbed what everybody thought it was, the cable going to the starter (a known issue) which is some cases would heat up at the "crimps", turn the copper blue due to high resistance and high current. I inspected the original starter cable which also went to the alternator and found nothing wrong with it, but he had already bought the expensive cable and wanted it installed (pain in the butt to install). Of course the cable wasn't the issue. Next came a battery which didn't solve the problem.
I believe in "diagnosis" instead of "guessing" aka being a "parts replacer" hoping the issue goes away if you throw enough parts at it. So the last thing he replaced was the "starter" and while he was doing that, I took the old one apart and found the issue. I have since rebuilt his old starter, fully cleaned it up and installed a new "brush plate".
This is what I found...No Start When The Starter & Engine Compartment Is HOT.
So I would suggest looking at all cable connections related to the battery and starter (cheap fix) and then look at the starter. You might want to do a current test of the starter when cold and when hot.
