Correct power seat behavior

We just bought a 2014 RDX, tech package. It has memory that stores seat and mirror position for 2 drivers. Most vehicles that can do this will, when you turn the car off and open the door, ride you back in the seat to make it easier to get out of the car. Our RDX does not do this. We are wondering if something is wrong, or if this is normal for the 2014 RDX.

I can't speak to a 2014 RDX but what you are describing is exactly how my 2010 TL works - the seat does not move when you turn the car off. I am glad of this as when I manually move the seat backwards, it goes so far back that it might crush someone in the back seat.

Normal. US luxobarges do this, but I know of very few German or Japanese cars that do this (the LS 460 maybe)

My RDX 2014 does the same (no sliding back when turn off the car and open door). I think it is normal for the RDX. Hope it helps.

About a year ago, I bought a 65" TV. The box was so big I had to move the front seats forward in order to close the rear hatch. After closing the hatch, I moved the seat back against the box, probably pushing it hard agains the box, in order to fit into the seat and drive several miles home.

After unloading the TV, I could no longer move the driver's seat back to my normal position. I took the vehicle to my dealer who agreed that the seat would not slide back. After fooling around a bit, he went in to the garage to look up the problem. When he came back out, he disconnected the battery in order to reset the system. After doing so, the seat worked normally. His take, moving the power seat against the TV box established a new rear limit.

I have a 2016 RDX. Two weeks after purchase I went back to the dealer to ask how to program the driver's seat for exiting. The sales guy smiled and said, "You should have bought an MDX". It surprises me this feature is not available on the RDX? I also own a 2006 C6 Corvette with memory seats that move back when the engine is turned off, and forward when the engine is started. The RDX has only ONE driver seat memory setting which I set for the exit position, moving it forward for driving - the opposite is also an option but not both. Other than this seat issue, I love the car as it's the best built vehicle I've every owned!!
