2017 RDX Brakes Grab

Hello. I own a 2014 MDX, 2016 TLX and this 2017 RDX. The brakes on this RDX are very sensitive. Especially with 3 or 4 in the car (a load), the brakes grab when applying at slow speeds and all passengers get thrown forward. It is not a fun car to drive. Dealer looked at it twice and tells me it is normal for an RDX. My MDX and TLX have normal brake operation.

It almost feels like the front and rear brakes are not adjusted properly. Like the front are grabbing before the rear. The dealer tells me this is not adjustable and sent me on my way.

Any suggestions? Is this truly a characteristic of the RDX? I am about to try another dealer and have them look at the car.

Thanks!

My first thought is that there is rust on the rotors. Rust can happen when the vehicle is outside for a day or two. The first few stops will be a little rough until the rust is removed by the pads. If this is not it, is it possible that some contaminant got on the rotors? I've seen once where a detail shop got tire shine spray on the rotors and had this same thing happen. I would suggest that you go to a Do-It-Yourself car wash (you know, the type with the wand) and spend perhaps $2 or $3 dollars and hot soap and then rinse each wheel. Your problem does not sound like an actual hydraulic or electronic problem. Most likely rotor contamination.

Stu’s2004TL.. How many miles do you have on your 2017 RDX? I have a 2016 and yeah, mine was grabby when brand new but it wore off.

Check out my thread on the same topic:

I experienced the same thing although I've gotten more used to them. I asked my local dealer about it, and they said I could get Akebono pads when the time comes for new ones; they're ceramic and should be more linear and less grabby - also less brake dust.

The truck has 5500 miles on it now and has been doing it since new. No change since June when we bought it.
