Unhappy Brake light sockets melting

I was changing the brake light bulb in my 2013 RDX the other day and found that the socket had melted so I took off the opposite side and that one was melted as well. These had the original factory bulbs installed and I don't feel like this should have happened. Is it a common thing?

I called the dealer and the sockets alone were about $46 each, but then I took the part number (33302-S5A-A01) and found the same OEM part on Amazon, of all places, for $26 each with 1-day shipping. Needless to say I ordered them from Amazon, along with some Philips Ultinon 7443R LEDs, and installed them the next day. Hopefully the LEDs run a bit cooler than the stock incandescents and the new sockets will hold up better, but only time will tell I guess.

Below is a pic of the perfectly normal turn signal socket at the top and the brake light socket below. The brake light socket showed a little corrosion on the metal but the plastic was brittle to the point where it was beginning to disintegrate.

I have the exact problem on our 2013 RDX but when I ran that part number on Amazon it says it does not fit 2013 RDX. Did it work for you? Thank you.

Not sure why Amazon says it doesn't fit, but that is the correct PN as found here. https://www.acurapartswarehouse.com/...2-s5a-a01.html

I had the same thing happen in my 2014 RDX. First the drivers side, then about 2 weeks later, the passenger side. Dealership charged me over $150 for two lights over that 2 week period. Since then I have been periodically pulling them out and checking to see if they are melting again. I just assumed maybe it was something related to the system and not a good ground to the frame.
