any door closing problems ?

i recently noticed a minor problem with my front passenger door.
when anyone goes to close it after exiting the car,it sometimes catches in the closed position, and sometimes it bounces slightly back out and it doesnt fully close.

i also noticed when the front door of the car is fully open,i have quite a reach from the drivers seat to grab the door handle to close it.
that might be a contibuting factor. it proabably can be fixed with an adjustment. i just had it in a couple of weeks ago for the recall, had i been aware then i would have had them check it.i dont want to make a trip back just for this.

anyone else experience this issue with their doors?

Does it happen when you close it hard? Mine only bounces back occassionally when I dont push it hard enough.

My old RDX would close very easy, but the new model I noticed needs some force.

Is the safety belt getting caught in the door when the passenger leaves? My husband has a habit of twisting the safety belt when exiting the passenger side and the safety belt buckle was caught between the door jam causing the door to not properly shut. He has only done this once in the RDX but did it a lot in my old car.

nothing was blocking it,and i tried closing it at differant speeds.

i will continue to monitor it. just wanted to find out if the forum had any info on it.
sounds like it might be isolated to my vehicle, and should be fixed with an adjustment to the alignment of the door.drivers door seems fine, only front passenger door has the problem.

its my wifes car and she stores her owners maual in that door panel. perhaps the weight of that owners manual is somehow causing the door to sometimes bounce back out. its a long shot, but its also an easy test. il just relocate it and see if anything improves.

Does it happen only when all windows are closed, or also when a window is open? The 2nd Gen RDX is super air-tight. The car is my wife's so I'm usually in the passenger seat. When all windows are closed, e.g, when we're out shopping, I frequently find that I'm not using enough force to fully close the door. But after pulling into our garage, we usually crack open the windows and the door fully closes 100% of the time.

I've actually noticed my front passenger door will open a little different compared to the other doors. Opening the front passenger door sounds louder at the latch compared to the others

I have similar experience. I was driving one night, and after went over a bump on the road, my interior lights suddenly all on, and the front passenger door light turned on. After we stop the car, and re-close the front passenger door, it is fine.

I think initially the door wasn't closed fully, but the sensor thinks it was closed. This was kind of scary at that time, but now I know so I will not panic next time it happens.

I think you hit the nail on the head.

the air tight theory is worth investigating.

yes it happens with all windows closed.
back doors get little to no use.
drivers door appears to be fine.

im going to do a simple test.

so far its only been noticed happening on front passenger door.
that might just be because driver door is being closed first and then passenger door is facing more air resistance from the air tight cabin theory.

i will close the 2 front doors 10 times each.
first drivers door closed first, then front passengers door closed first .
this should determine it its an air tight issue or possibly a door out of alignment.

i did some simple testing.

all 4 doors had windows in the closed position.
i closed all 4 doors one at a time, from the same distance opening,
and with the other 3 doors in the closed position.
i first closed them with light to medium force, and then with harder force.

the only problem was the front passenger door, with light to medium closing force.
now the only remaining question.
is this issue limited to my car,or common among other 2nd generation rdx owners?
