2018 RDX - warpped rotors?
2018 RDX - warpped rotors?
My wife's ow mileage 2018 RDX seems to exhibit warped rotor issue: pulsating when brake applied. Not too bad but annoying.
Is there a known tendency for disks of that model year to develop warping?

The warped rotor feeling has been an issue with a lot Acura vehicles for a few decades. It is narrowed down to uneven distribution of brake pad material on the rotors creating hi/low spot that feel like "warped rotors" when you apply the brakes. You can turn the rotors to even out the hi/low spots; but, it will come back in the same amount of time if you drive the same way. We don't do brake pad embedding process anymore and not sure if that would help reduce the issue with OEM pads/rotors?
The 3 solutions that work for most are:
- change to aftermarket pads (turn rotors to remove old OEM brake pad material first, embedding process would help also)
- change to aftermarket rotors (sometimes OEM pad perform better with less "warping")
- change both aftermarket pads and aftermarket rotors

Good the hear new OEM parts fixed it.
I bought my 2017 Tech used with 41k miles. Front brakes started warping about 55k miles. My mechanic resurfaced the rotors and put new pads on. He told me there was plenty of meat left on the rotors. I'm at 152k miles now and the brakes are still braking smoothly. The process that EasyLoveRDX wrote is the way to resolve the problem.
