I changed the transmission filter (and then the fluid) in my 2015 RDX with 35k miles. I bought this certified pre-owned 2015 model last year with 25k miles. Acura did a good job changing all the fluids and they "documented" that they changed the fluid in the transmission. I went a step further and changed the filter and fluid at 35k miles just to be sure. The filter I used was Honda 25430-PLR-003 and I paid around $21 for it. The filter can be seen if you pull back the front half of the drivers side inner splash shield liner from behind the tire. You don't have to remove the whole liner. You do have to remove the entire splash shield underneath that covers the engine and transmission. You'll see the bottom hose connecting the transmission to the filter with that removed . You don't have to remove the front bumper cover. There is one 10mm bolt on a bracket holding the filter to the transmission. The bolt is on the front side and it's not in one of the pictures. Removing that bolt isn't hard. Putting it back on IS hard so be warned. It's tough to line up with the hole in the bracket and where it screws into. I had a tough time with that part. There was also a tie-down for an electrical wire fastened to the bracket that gets in the way. The rest was easy. I disconnected the bottom hose from the transmission and pulled everything down to let it drain. Once you pull it down, you can reach the clamps easily. I did my drain and refill after that. It took almost 3.5 quarts. Good luck with that 10mm bolt and chime in if you have any special tips for it.

AT Filter with bottom hose disconnected pulled down to let it drain out. Remove the clamps here and install the new filter. Then reverse your procedure.

 

I was pretty sure the maintenance schedule for the 2015 RDX is 60,000 for first transmission fluid change. I could not find an interval for changing the transmission filter that you have pictures of. Is it set for life perhaps? If so, it can certainly go further than 35,000 miles. I might worry about it around 150,000 miles or much more. Any particular reason why you are changing it?

 

I changed it because I had no idea how the previous owner treated it and also because I'm OCD about automotive maintenance.

 

In all of my cars i try to change my tranny fluids about once a year or about 20k miles. It's cheap insurance to keep the tranny going.

 

Just curious - have you been burned in the past? Why or when did you start with this maintenance schedule?

 

Where is this "maintenance schedule" that you mention located?

I checked the "Maintenance" section of my Owner's Manual and there is no chart listing time intervals or mileages.
