Dome light removal and bulb replacement

I am the proud owner of a 2014 RDX. Does any one know how to remove the dome light over the back seat. I have tried but I am worried about scratching things up and or breaking the cover.
Thank you in advance.

Hey Aquaman,
If you're still a member of this forum (I know it's an old post) how did you get the dome light lens off? I'm using a plastic pry tool but that puppy just isn't moving.
Thanks!

I used a metal dental pick to pry just enough space to get a very very small flat head screwdriver under the lens. After they, it pops off very easily.

Thanks Jason. I ended up using a jeweler's screwdriver between the trim piece and the lens to provide enough space to get a plastic panel removal tool in. Once loose that lens (literally) flies out of there The little tabs on the lens are a little smaller on the front (switch) side than at the back so that's the side to work from.

So the guy does a whole video about replacing the light and skips the actual lens removal...

RDX 2017 - Map Light

Hi, New to the forum ...

I am wondering if there is anyone that has some information regarding the change of the front map light/part number for RDX 2017.... instructions on how to remove the current led bulb?
Much appreciated

No can do. Unless you're willing to pull out the whole housing and desolder the permanent LEDs and solder in your replacements. I can't offer much more information that that, I've never had it opened.

Thank you, Jason
I've seen that in older models there are regular bulbs and as easy to replace as the dome light... not sure why they would do this for 2017
What if the led burns out? change the entire module at the top?

That's a "cross that bridge when I get to it" problem for me...
Hopefully if they do burn out, I'm still under warranty.

I do figure they'll last a long time though. They're not on much.

Don't price out the headlight assemblies (also LED) or you will have a heart attack.

As a lighting guy I will say this: LEDs have gotten much better. Early adopters got burned. I was among them. One should still be wary of deals. Buy the best, with a warranty.

Words of wisdom spoken right here.

That being said, I spent a whipping $18 CAD on a 10-pack of bulbs to upgrade my interior lighting to LED. (Except the map lights, obviously) You can see much more information & photos here.
I'm very happy with the result and they've been going strong for at least 6 months so far. I had a few spares left over from the 10-pack, so I really won't be upset when they start to fail.
