Make power port (cigarette lighter) always on

Has anyone found a quick and easy way to make one or both of these hot all the time? Sometimes it would be nice to charge a dead cell phone while the car is parked. There was a solution for my Forrester which was as simple as eliminating a relay with a jumper. I could research this but just checking to see if it's been done already. Call me lazy...

Pretty easy. Identify the fuse for the power port(s) you want on full time then find a fuse (or unused fuse port) that 'is' full time and link the two using a couple of add-a-fuses. Check out this 'how to' on the Toyota Highlander forum.

Cheers

Not so simple because there is a relay past each of the fuses (#12 and #27) that need to be activated by the push-button start switch.

I found the "Front Accessory Power Socket Relay" which is on the "Under-Dash Fuse/Relay" board (#3 in the attached "Fuse Relay Box Connector Locations 2016-2018" PDF).

But the "Console Accessory Power Socket Relay" doesn't seem to be on that Fuse/Relay board. According to the "Power Distribution 2016-2018" PDF, it is located on the Under-Dash Holder B, where ever that is.

I am looking for it which is why I came across this thread.

Look at page 1 and page 5 of the attached PDF.

Note the highlighted areas.

Gen 2 fuse 40 is labeled as a 'spare' and is constant power. For future reference #28 is switched and is also a spare. Both are handy for use with an add-a-fuse.

So are you saying the "fuse socket" in the in-car fuse/relay panel is "switched"? If so, how is it switched because the power sockets are switched by a relay after the fuses and I am thinking this would be the same. Although it is a spare, fuse #28 does not show up on the Acura schematic that I have.

I'll have to check it out with my DMM.

Yep. I ran a pigtail from each to a distribution block behind the kick panel so it's simple to connect additional accessories.
I use the switched fuse circuit for my front camera and the always hot one for my phone cradle (with built in fast charging). It's easy for anyone to test just by connecting a multimeter or test light to an add-a-fuse then plug it in.

This!

I ran an additional circuit from the under-dash fuse panel which I connected to a female cigarette outlet that I purchased on Amazon.
I hid everything down underneath the radio inside the dash and fed the charging cable out through a HVAC vent nearby my cell phone mount.
My favorite part of the install was being able to keep the compartment door closed where my charger was previously for a super clean look. (Especially when the wife has it crammed full of stuff, at least I can keep it out of sight)

You can see more info about what I did here: https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-rdx-...lation-989903/
