Does 2017 RDX Navigation need a phone attached?
My 2017 RDX arrived Saturday. At first, the talk and input address worked. But now when we try it, instead of Navigation, a message saying no phone attached comes up, and prompts us if we want to attach a phone. Does Nav need a phone attached?
Lots of bells and whistles on this technology package.

No. You'll see your map screen when you press the "Nav" button. You use voice commands by pressing the appropriate button on the steering wheel. You 'do' need your phone bluetoothed to the car if you want to make or receive calls, email or sms messages. You'll discover there's a bit of a learning curve to make voice commands work or get the car to read your messages to you.
The only way to truly sort out how all the tech works is to sit in the car with the owner's manuals and play with everything. If you have a regular passenger who wants to do more than just ride he/she should do the same so you can focus on driving while they push buttons to switch between maps, audio and other functions.
Cheers!
