Amplified Static randomly playing across inputs
Amplified Static randomly playing across inputs
I have a 2013 RDX with the Tech package (ELS system). I'm experiencing random, loud static noises across inputs. It happens intermittently which is weird. Also, when I call over bluetooth through the car, everything seems to work fine - no static. I've seen another thread where the user believed the solution to be the following:
I thought my issue was the amp or head unit because all of the door speakers made the same static sound and it was more noticeable at low volume.
WELL I FOUND THE ISSUE AND I WOULD HAVE TO BELIEVE IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM.
I removed a door speaker and hooked up a test speaker to the vehicle speaker wiring. It sounded fine. Then I looked at the stock speaker and noticed the rubber surround suspension for the cone was pulling away from the speaker basket. I pulled all of the door speakers and ALL 4 SPEAKERS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. My solution was to peel away the surround and remove all of the failed adhesive and re glue the surround to the basket. I tested all 4 speakers and they now sound perfect. this is an easy repair.
When I explained this to the car audio shop/dealer, they say it sounds like an amplifier issue instead of the rubber pulling away. I haven't pulled open the door yet, but I've attached a video of the noise. Has anyone experienced this before and have a solve?

I've never heard of an issue like this, but it seems that you diagnosed and fixed the problem. Somehow I don't think this was an amp problem because a bad amp would probably fry the speakers and not just cause the cones to pull away.
